**Working for the Department**

Created in 2015, the Canadian Glycomics Network (GlycoNet) is a $125M initiative funded by the federal Centres of Networks of Excellence (NCE), Strategic Science Funding (SSF), Canadian Foundation for Innovation-Major Science innovation (CFI-MSI), Genome Canada, provincial and industrial partners, which comprises 190 research teams (estimated 600 students and staff) from 36 Canadian academic institutions.

**Position**

**Duties**
- Assist the GlycoNet CEO, Scientific Director, Program Manager and other GIS Node Leaders & Node Managers with outreach activities to grow GIS commercial opportunities and revenues, such as conducting market research to pinpoint potential clients and explore opportunities for research collaborations
- Proactively seek and engage clients in GIS current areas of strength (health sciences) to increase GIS profile and market share
- Expand GIS client base in emerging sectors (agriculture, environment), by introducing GIS capabilities to current and prospective clients
- Assist the GlycoNet CEO, Director of Strategic Partnerships in developing pitch deck for selected technologies
- Review GlycoNet website and develop strategies for higher visibility and outreach (e.g., add expertise and area of interest of GlycoNet Investigators)
- Help develop content for GlycoNet bimonthly online newsletter and implement digital content strategies in order to develop GlycoNet presence as a leading provider of glycomics research and services worldwide

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Minimum BCom Degree required; preferably completed within the last 24 months
- Strong analytical skills to assess trends and identify potential business opportunities
- Demonstrated ability to develop, foster, and maintain relationships with internal and external customers
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively present information to clients and internal stakeholders
- Excellent research skills with strong problem-solving ability
- Positive and motivated self-starter, process-oriented with a high attention to detail and sense of urgency

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Those with a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) or Masters of Commerce (MCom) who have graduated within the last 24 months are preferred
- Experience in sales, particularly B2B sales and expansion of client lists is an asset
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and ability to work independently
- Strong time management, organization and planning skills
