**About the Position**

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator, with direction from the ED, is responsible for growing awareness of Hospice Halifax and its programs and services and advancing its vision, mission and values by developing and executing effective communication strategies, media campaigns, advancing our web presence, and performing social media activities.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Develop an overall marketing and communications strategy and implement an annual plan that creates high impact, measurable marketing and communication opportunities, directly supporting leading edge brand awareness and fundraising initiatives
- Manage all aspects of internal and external communications, including branding, press releases, promotional material, newsletters, social media, and website content
- Manage all social media accounts and engage with followers to build brand awareness and foster community engagement, including

○ Creating engaging and impactful content
○ Maintaining a content calendar and schedule posts
○ Monitoring accounts and respond to feedback
○ Monitoring industry news and identify engagement opportunities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of marketing efforts with overall business goals
- Assist in organizing and executing events, both virtual and in-person, to promote brand visibility and generate funds
- Develop and steward media contacts and community relationships to build awareness and brand
- Work with the Philanthropy team to identify, invite, and interview families and stakeholders to collect and write new stories/testimonials
- Monitor and analyze marketing performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimize campaign effectiveness
- Conduct market research to identify new opportunities and stay on top of industry trends
- Develop, monitor, and improve Hospice Halifax Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategies to increase brand visibility within all audiences
- Ensure positive and consistent internal/external brand management
- Ensure marketing materials are produced on time and meet quality standards
- Manage the marketing & communication budget effectively and efficiently

**Additional requirements of the position**:

- Ability to interact comfortably with a variety of stakeholders including donors, hospice staff and physicians, patients and their families, media and community members
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Participate in Hospice fundraising activities
- Represent Hospice Halifax positively in the community
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications and Competencies**

Education and professional experience:

- Post-Secondary degree or diploma relating to Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or other relevant fields, or the equivalent combination of training and experience
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in marketing, communications, social media or fundraising, ideally in a non-profit environment
- General knowledge of Hospice Halifax or other hospices is considered an asset

Skills and Abilities:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong project management and organizational abilities
- Strong creative abilities with a keen eye for design and storytelling
- Proficiency in social media management and content creation tools
- Familiarity with digital marketing platforms and analytics tools
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent project and time management skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms. Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud programs, Wordpress and/or Raiser’s Edge NXT would be considered an asset
