MEOPAR is a not-for-profit network funded by the Strategic Science Fund (SSF) that is focused on supporting leading-edge research and connecting top researchers across Canada with highly qualified personnel, partners, and communities. Together, our mission is to address the problems and opportunities of the changing marine environment. MEOPAR funds leading-edge research, breaks down barriers to collaboration, and helps train the next generation of marine professionals.

**Overview of the Role**

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications Coordinator plays a pivotal role in shaping and amplifying the organization’s voice and brand. As a hands-on position and key contributor to MEOPAR’s success, the Communications Coordinator is responsible for creating, managing, and delivering impactful communications that resonate with diverse audiences.

This role leverages creativity, technical expertise, and strategic thinking to craft compelling content and manage digital platforms. With a strong understanding of social media trends and analytics, the Communications Coordinator ensures seamless communication both internally and externally. Key responsibilities include storytelling, engaging stakeholders, and maintaining a cohesive brand identity to drive the success of MEOPAR’s communications initiatives.

**What You'll Do**
- Develop engaging content for various platforms, including website updates, social media posts, newsletters, and press releases.
- Create, schedule, and manage posts across social media channels; track analytics to measure engagement and refine strategies.
- Design visually appealing graphics and materials for digital and print communications, ensuring alignment with the organization’s brand guidelines.
- Oversee the internal CRM system (currently HubSpot), including data management, segmentation, and optimization for outreach.
- Manage incoming inquiries, directing them to the appropriate team members and ensuring timely responses.
- Maintain and update the organization’s website to ensure content is current, relevant, and engaging.
- Assist in developing communication strategies to enhance the organization’s visibility and stakeholder engagement.
- Contribute to communication materials for events, including promotional content, registration management, and post-event reporting.

**What You'll Bring**
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a communications role, preferably within a nonprofit or research-focused organization.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with an ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms and analytics tools.
- Hands-on experience with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
- Familiarity with CRM platforms, ideally HubSpot.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative mindset with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A keen eye for detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
