**Position summary**
NCC is seeking a dynamic individual to join the regional Development & Communications team in Atlantic Canada to help raise the profile of conservation and grow our network of supporters. This team is responsible for raising the funds needed for conservation projects across all four Atlantic Canadian provinces, stewarding major donors and helping to communicate NCC’s work to a broad range of audiences, including our supporters.
The Communications Coordinator reports to the Communications Manager and is responsible for contributing to the delivery of communications, donor stewardship, and fundraising products. The Communications Coordinator plays a key role in coordinating the flow of information and creative assets within the Development & Communications team, and ensuring communications activities stay on schedule and conform to organizational standards and policies.
**Duties and responsibilities**
The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for the successful accomplishment of the following duties:
**Content Creation and Distribution - 75%**
- Working closely with the Communications Manager, develop regional communications and marketing products for a wide range of development, supporter, and public outreach needs. This includes, but is not limited to, fundraising materials, media releases, web content, social media copy, impact reports, property and interpretive signs, speaking notes, government relations communications materials, and presentations for use by staff for both internal and external audiences.
- Help to foster a culture of storytelling by providing writing and editing support to program and development staff for outbound donor and partner communications.
- Maintain and enhance the quality of communications products and ensure technical information is readable and appealing for various audiences.
- Provide proofreading and quality control process support for all outgoing communications materials; coordinate the editorial and translation process.
- Support the planning and execution of communications deliverables for specific conservation projects, or deliverables required to fulfill NCC’s contractual obligations of partnership agreements and grants.
- Develop and maintain story gathering relationships with staff.
**Information and Creative Asset Coordination - 10%**
- Source and coordinate with external contractors including, but not limited to, photographers, videographers, printers and signage companies.
- Create, edit and catalogue digital assets (both photos and videos).
- Coordinate the review and updating of evergreen communications products.
- Monitor and track communications, marketing, and media deliverables for reporting; and respond to requests from staff for report content.
- Coordinate technical/logístical elements of development and communications creative work including, but not limited to, webpage creation, translation, eblasts, social media posts, video, etc.;
**Media and Public Outreach - 10%**
- Under the guidance of the Communications Manager, develop news releases, media advisories, speeches, backgrounders, opinion editorials and commentaries, and stories;
- Contribute to coordination of media and other public events;
- Support and contribute to digital marketing and communications platforms, including the Leaflet and NCC’s social media channels (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook etc.)
- Coordinate and implement ongoing updates and new content development for the regional section of the website.
- Track media statistics in cooperation with National staff.
**Other - 5%**
- Provide support as required to the Development & Communications team
**Position Requirements**
**Qualifications**:
- Minimum 5 years demonstrated successful experience in a communications role or similar.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in communications, public relations, Humanities, or other related field.
**Skills/Experience**
- Exceptional verbal and written communications abilities.
- Demonstrated experience writing a variety of communications products including backgrounders, briefs, news releases, speeches, articles, blogs, etc.
- Demonstrated experience in graphic design and visual communications; an understanding of design principles, branding and visual storytelling is preferred.
- Proficiency working with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud and web publishing tools, as well as the ability to learn new software.
