The Provincial Infrastructure Policy Unit conducts research, consults and provides strategic advice on provincial infrastructure policy priorities, ranging from developing approaches to strategically guide infrastructure investments, to new and emerging initiatives such as integrating climate change considerations into infrastructure planning. The unit collaborates across the Ministry of Infrastructure and with central agencies and ministries to advance cross-government initiatives. The unit also provides secretariat support for executive level cross-government forums (e.g., the Deputy Ministers Infrastructure Steering Committee).

Effective April 1, 2024 the salary range for this position is $76,231.00 to $109,842.00 per year in compliance with AMAPCEO collective agreement provisions. The new rates, effective retroactive to April 1, 2024, were recently confirmed and dates for implementation of the new salary rates are still to be determined.

**What can I expect to do in this role?**: In this role you will:

- provide research, analysis and advice on the development of provincial infrastructure policy and planning
- lead, coordinate, and participate in projects that implement strategies and initiatives in support of the ministry's mandate with respect to infrastructure planning
- identify emerging infrastructure planning issues and changes in strategic directions
- develop risk management strategies and options, and make recommendations to senior management
- liaise with internal and external stakeholders and participate on committees and working groups
- develop policy documents, briefing notes and presentations

**How do I qualify?**:
**Specialized Knowledge and Skills**:

- You have the ability to provide expertise and support by conducting thorough review, evaluation and analysis of infrastructure planning practices and project proposals from a sectoral and/ or cross-sector perspective.
- You have the ability to review policy or program initiatives of other ministries and levels of government to identify and comment on their impact on Ontario's infrastructure planning initiatives.
- You have the ability to identify and advise on existing and potential strategic infrastructure planning issues, and to recommend changes in policies, programs and legislation.
- You have previous project management skills to plan and manage projects/initiatives, to lead/guide project activities and to ensure that objectives are met within strict deadlines.

**Research, Analytical and Problem Solving Skills**:

- You have proven experience analyzing and developing strategic policy and program advice, recommendations and strategies with respect to infrastructure planning and prioritization.
- You have the ability to analyze and develop strategic policy and program advice, recommendations and strategies with respect to infrastructure planning and prioritization.
- You have the ability to review and analyze data and/or technical reports, identify key findings and implications, and determine if any issues require further investigation.
- You have proven experience conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis to assess proposed initiatives and compare different scenarios.

**Communication, Interpersonal and Consultation Skills**:

- You have the ability to liaise, build and manage relationships with external stakeholders, partner ministries and agencies, other levels of government and jurisdictions on the development of programs, frameworks and policies.
- You have excellent written and oral communications to provide recommendations and analyses, to prepare briefing materials and correspondence.
- You have demonstrated the ability to represent the branch/ministry/province on working committees or task forces, and to promote policy initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
- You are able to address concerns and/or convey ministry positions with tact and political acuity when interacting with stakeholders.
