Resource Administrator - Full-time

Offices in both Sarnia, ON & Chatham, ON

*Position will be based in Sarnia, ON office location

Here at Sentry Fire we have a staff of highly trained and knowledgeable professionals who can recommend accurate and technical solutions to a wide range of Fire & Safety needs. We have convenient locations in both Sarnia and Chatham and are situated to serve areas from Windsor and Essex counties to London and Middlesex counties and beyond. We have two divisions within our business

Fire Services Div., which includes Industrial and Commercial Fire Alarms, Fire Sprinkler, Fire Extinguishers, Fire Suppression systems, etc.

Safety & Rescue Div., which includes Field Technicians, Rental Equipment, Equipment Cleaning, Training, etc.

We are currently seeking an energetic, experienced Resource Administrator with a positive, business-building outlook to lead our operational HR needs, including staffing and recruitment, onboarding, health and safety, policy administration, coaching and support.

Overview

Resource Administrator is responsible for a wide range of administrative and HR related services to support business strategy, including recruitment, onboarding, training and development, procedure writing/editing, coaching and support, compensation, performance management, and HR policy development and implementation. This role works closely with senior leadership and all employees to build a positive, productive, and committed culture that attracts and retains high performers to achieve business results.

Core Duties*

Staffing, Onboarding and Training
- Assess current and projected staffing needs to meet business needs, working with Departmental managers and senior leadership
- Work closely with managers and supervisors to ensure new hires are successfully onboarded, understand, and are thoroughly trained in all aspects of their role, including health and safety, job duties, company procedures and protocols
- Maintain accurate training records for all staff and assign various training to staff as directed by Department Leads and Management.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the training provided to support high performance; provide support and coaching to managers and supervisors when warranted to ensure training is effective
- Continually assess and strengthen the company’s recruitment, onboarding, and training practices
- Pursue government grants wherever possible to offset hiring and training costs

Compensation and Benefits, Employee Records
- Develop and keep current comprehensive compensation programs that are externally competitive and internally equitable
- Administer Sentry Fire’s compensation and benefits programs as developed and as amended from time to time
- Ensure employee records are accurate and up to date, including collecting and protecting the confidentiality of required personal information, tracking and monitoring sick time, vacation time, bereavement leave and other approved absences within an established HRIS platform or equivalent
- Working with our internal admins to manage our unionized workforce.

Performance Management
- Develop, implement, and maintain an effective Performance Management program, including:

- Creating or updating job descriptions with clear performance objectives for each role
- Manage the Performance Assessment process, coach managers and supervisors in providing effective feedback and coaching
- Ensure Employee Reviews are conducted on an annual basis at a minimum
- Support managers and supervisors in addressing performance issues, help identify and remove obstacles to performance
- Provide individual employee coaching and counselling as required to support high performance and retention
- Manage, and revise as needed, a fair, progressive discipline policy that reflects best practices

HR Policies and Procedures
- Develop, implement, monitor and enforce comprehensive HR policies that meet legislative requirements and reflects the desired culture and objectives of the company
- Provide training to Supervisors and staff to ensure thorough understanding of HR policies and procedures
- Ensure Sentry Fire complies with applicable employment legislation and reporting requirements

- Serve as a visible leader in developing and protecting a positive, supportive and professional work environment in which everyone is treated with dignity and respect

Required Skills and Attributes

⁻ Post-secondary degree with completion of professional courses in Human Resources

⁻ Certified Human Resources Leader designation (achieved or in progress) and previous experience with an HRIS system are strong assets

⁻ Min 8 years of experience in Human Resources in senior positions in a consumer or industrial service environment

⁻ Strong knowledge of HR legislative require
