**The role**
Reporting to the Head of People & Culture, the Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for a wide range of HR activities, including recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, compliance, absence management and HR reporting and documentation.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Employee relations_
- Liaise with employees and managers addressing people-related inquiries and concerns
- Work with managers to support people-related concerns at restaurant levels; provide coaching and guidance to managers on performance-related issues
- Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture while being a champion of employee recognition and engagement
- Compliance_
- Stay updated on provincial employment laws and regulations
- Ensure HR policies and procedures are consistently applied and compliant
- Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures
- Provide coaching and guidance to managers on legislative requirements, new policies and procedures
- Coordinating and tracking required training for new and current staff
- HR reporting, analytics, and documentation_
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in UKG
- Ensure HR documents are up-to-date with the most recent version on shared folders, SharePoint, and the HRIS
- Produce HR reports and analytics using BI
- Absence management_
- Process leaves of absence
- Maintain communication with employees on a leave of absence
- Administer the return to work program for employees on a medical leave of absence
- Oversee vacation compliance, ensuring time is being taken
- Assist the department team, as needed, in other areas of HR, including Health & Safety
- Recruitment and onboarding_
- Collaborate with managers as required to support staffing needs
- Implement effective recruitment strategies to attract top talent at restaurants
- Post job vacancies on ATS; distribute internal job postings
- Ensure smooth onboarding process for new employees, including ensuring onboarding documents are completed, proper orientation training is complete, coordinating 90-day plans
**Requirements**:
- Post-secondary education in Business, Commerce, or Human Resources
- A CHRP designation or actively working towards the designation is an asset.
- 2+ years of experience in an HR role serving a multi-unit environment
- Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft 365. Experience in UKG, an asset.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Be a team player
- Ability to problem solve and see bigger picture
- Ability to take initiative and work with mínimal supervision
