**Role**:
The Facilities Coordinator will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of an assigned building or land portfolio through the supervision of in-house staff members and/or the administration of Total Property Management (TPM) contracts, leases, Transportation Utility Corridor (TUC) agreements, and/or Alberta Schools Alternative Procurement Agreement (ASAP).

The incumbent plays a key role in planning and developing contract specifications, administering contracts and agreements as well as monitoring associated deliverables for compliance and quality assurance. The Facilities Coordinator oversees the activities of services providers associated with various agreements and contracts and/or supervises in-house staff members to ensure client and Ministry services delivery standards are met. They also provide input to budget development and forecasts for the assigned portfolio as well as monitors expenditures and recommends approval of payments to contractors.

**The main duties of the Facilities Coordinator are as follows**:

- Coordinates and administers operation and maintenance services to maintain asset value of assigned portfolio.
- Oversees and coordinates resources and programs to facilitate the safe, cost-effective and efficient operation and maintenance of the assigned portfolio in accordance with established standards, guidelines, codes and legislation.
- Coordinates the delivery of maintenance and tenant improvement projects for assigned portfolio that enhance asset value within the area; ensuring compliance with established standards, guidelines, codes and legislation.
- Provides leadership to facilitate provision of high quality and responsive operations and maintenance services for the assigned portfolio, ensuring the facilities (or land) support requirements of clients and Albertans accessing government programs and services in a safe, cost-effective and efficient manner.

**Qualifications**:
**Required**:

- 2-year Technical Diploma in a related field such as Power Engineering or Journeyman Certificate supplemented by 6 years of related experience with facility maintenance and property management.
- Class 5 Driver’s Licence.

**Equivalency**:
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

**Assets**:

- 4th Class Power Engineer considered a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of construction and maintenance projects.
- Experience with operation and maintenance of facilities, facilities project coordination, administration of contracts/leases and budgets.
- Supervising staff.
- Working knowledge of applicable regulations and standards and codes is also an asset. Familiarity with contract law and leasing.
- Function independently as well as lead and contribute within a team environment.
- Demonstrate high level of self-management skills with strong results orientation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
