Remote, Canada She Connects Full time

**About Us**

We launched She Connects with the goal of bringing together a community of young women. Through our mentorship program, we aim to foster relationships where women are able to share stories, learn from the experiences of others, and support one another to reach their own personal goals.

We aim for She Connects to be a nationwide community of women from every province in Canada. We want the program to be well-funded, sustainable, reputable, and most importantly, to have a positive impact on the lives of our mentees and mentors.

Our Mission is to connect young women by facilitating relationship building, mentorship, and knowledge-transmission, to create a supportive and interconnected community of women across Canada.

Our values are community connection, integrity, respect, and inclusiveness.

**Duties**

This role is an integral role of supporting She Connects. This is a volunteer position that seeks out partnering with external parties; Funding allows us as a non-profit to keep operating to support the community of young women. Please see more information below:
**Sustainability Tasks**
- Chiefly responsible for the sustainability of She Connects via funding; whether through sponsorship, grants, government partnerships, corporate partnerships, etc.
- Actively networks with external partners and organizations to seek new opportunities for She Connects with the ultimate goal of ensuring the sustainability of the organization.
- Responsible for chairing the Sustainability committee which is responsible for supporting the sustainability director in their mandate. The committee is expected to meet at least once per month. The committee will be composed of mentors, volunteers, and any other directors who wish to join the committee.

**Duties of all Board Members**
- All board members are expected to adhere to the code of conduct:

- Board members are expected to engage in dialogue at board meetings, committee meetings, and working group meetings. It is important for me as a board member to share my perspective and to listen to the perspectives of others. It is important we have discussions involving all participants in the meeting.
- Show up for meetings 5 minutes early.
- Let the meeting chair know as soon as possible if they need to miss a meeting (the expectation is at least 48 hours) and read the minutes afterwards.
- Not miss more than 4 board meetings per year (max of 2 consecutive meetings)
- With board members spanning across Canada - most meetings will be held virtually. Board members will turn their cameras on during meetings whenever possible.
- As this is a working board, all board members are expected to do work outside of meetings and must have those action items completed without needing to be reminded.
- Complete a monthly director report at least 4 days before our monthly board meeting
- Be self-accountable and will create a system to stay on top of board work and expectations.
- Check and respond on Slack regularly (at least 5-7 times per week). Slack is very important at our Board as this is how we coordinate meetings and discuss certain topics outside of meetings.
- Being a member of a working board is a fairly significant time commitment (around ~2 hours per week + meetings) and board members agree to commit this time to the organization and the board.
