Holiday Helpers Canada is a registered charity that provides customized poverty relief packages to families living in low income situations, with young children. We've been helping families for 25+ years and this year we are aiming to support 1,200 families in the GTA, Durham and Hamilton. We are looking for an Event Co-ordinator who can assist with setting up the logistics for our 3 "Santa's Workshop" locations.

**Job Summary**:Event Co-ordinator**:"Santa's Workshop" is a pop up location where corporate groups and public volunteers come to assist with sorting, organizing, and packing up family packages. These locations are lively and require a high level or organization before they kick off. While the event is going on, jobs need to be assigned/re-assigned, supplies topped up, and spontaneous requests fulfilled. We're looking for a friendly person who works well under pressure, organized and has experience with managing events and people. This position requires approximately 20-30 hours/week in October and more hours as Christmas approaches. Once Santa’s Workshop is open, evening and weekend work is required.

**Responsibilities and Duties relate to the following, but not limited to**:

- _**Responsible for ordering supplies**_ like wrapping paper, tape, office supplies for all 3 locations
- _**Responsible for soliciting for donations**_ for food and snacks for volunteers for all 3 locations
- _**Assisting with sourcing and screening part time staff**_ for all 3 locations (Mississauga, Oshawa, and Hamilton)
- Organizing training for part-time staff, filling in the schedule, assisting with payroll,

etc.
- Other duties as assigned.

Works within the policies, procedures and regulations as required by the Company and under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

**Qualifications**:

- 2-4 years of Event Management experience
- 2-4 years of people management experience
- remains positive and friendly in a busy, time-sensitive environment
- is able to take direction and feedback well
- Has a high level of professionalism
- Drivers license and access to a vehicle is required due to the nature of the job
- Demonstrated customer service and relationship skills
- Post-Secondary Education in Office/Business Administration considered an asset
- Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Strong communication skills, patient, respectful, and compassionate with our recipient families
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and attend to detail
- High work ethic and commitment, positive attitude
- Loves Christmas is an asset

**Physical & Psychological Working Conditions/Requirements**: Identify the working conditions and physical/psychological demands which relate to the essential functions of the position, such as working indoors/outdoors, working with exposures to hazards, etc.
- Requires concentrated time and focus on a computer screen for long periods
- Job requires ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to manage family expectations and potentially deal with conflict

Part-time hours: 20-40 per week

**Salary**: $22.00-$24.00 per hour

Schedule:
