Etobicoke Humane Society (EHS) is searching for an organized and friendly volunteer to join our **Cat Foster Program **as a **Cat Foster Co-Manager**. **The Cat Foster Program **expands on the physical capacity of EHS to intake cats, and also allows EHS to rescue and care for cats and kittens that may have medical or behavioural needs that are more appropriately met in a foster home environment instead of the shelter. Approved fosters agree to take an EHS cat into their home under EHS supervision and give them love, care and attention, either for a predetermined period or until the cat is adopted and/or the foster can no longer care for the cat.

The **Cat Foster Co-Manager** is responsible for managing and overseeing a designated portion of the **Cat Foster Program**. This includes managing a team of volunteer **Cat Foster Coordinators** including recruitment, interviewing, training, and subsequently monitoring their efforts. It also includes managing a roster of foster parents, and ensuring the proper care is being met for EHS cats in their homes.

There are currently two **Cat Foster Co-Managers** each responsible for their own teams, however they work closely together to ensure the foster program is running efficiently. To ensure success, you should exude approachability, exhibiting cultural sensitivity at all appropriate opportunities as well as continuously endeavor to stretch our cat foster program's impact.

The **Cat Foster Co-Manager** reports to the Cat Senior Manager. The **Cat Foster Co-Manager** works in alignment with the other **Cat Team Managers**.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Recruits, trains, and manages a team of Cat Foster Coordinators to liaise with foster parents regarding the care of EHS foster cats.
- Provides support and guidance to Cat Foster Coordinators in their day-to-day work to ensure the health and well-being of the cats in foster care.
- Assigns routine and ad hoc responsibilities to Cat Foster Coordinators; Provides sound instruction, and appropriate mentorship to Cat Foster Coordinators, as well as works as a member of the team as a whole.
- Monitors Cat Foster Coordinators performance and provides timely and constructive feedback as appropriate; Review their performance at scheduled intervals.
- Identify Cat Foster Coordinators that require additional training and/or support to meet the needs of the organization and facilitate the provision of that additional training/support.
- Coordinates with Cat Foster Placement Coordinator to identify and place EHS foster cats into suitable foster homes.
- Communicates directly with partner veterinarians, hospitals, and clinics to schedule vet visits and manage the health and well-being of EHS foster cats.
- Works with other Foster Co-Manager(s), Shelter Manager and Cat Senior Manager as well as other members of the EHS leadership team to create and implement various animal care protocols and procedures and maintain a standard of care for EHS foster cats.
- Works in collaboration with the Cat Adoption Manager to actively monitor the list of available cats in the EHS foster program to facilitate timely adoptions and reduce the cats’ length of stay in the program; includes making recommendations and providing information/pictures/videos to Cat Adoption Manager for adoption promotions of select cats, and working with adoption team and the social/media marketing team as needed;
- Identifies and implements strategies to expand the EHS cat foster parent network; Ensures the foster program is effective and supportive, for both cats and fosters; Makes recommendations to the senior cat leadership team for projects and/or campaigns to improve or promote the cat foster program.
- Assists with foster emergencies, medical or behavioural, provide on-call response to foster cat emergencies on an as needed basis, and seek support from the Cat Senior Manager and other Cat Team Managers if necessary.
- Collaborates and communicates with other Cat Team Managers to ensure team and organizational processes are run efficiently and that the high standard of care for our cats is met.
- Uses information management tools/systems to ensure the appropriate management of information (data) as it pertains to animal care and foster parent management; Ensures all Standards of Practice are documented and updated on a timely basis.
