**Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Associate Director, Residence Life, the Manager, Residence Student Support provides leadership and direction to responsive mental health support for the residence community through the triage and management of complex and critical student needs and where risk is present as a result of psychosocial issues. As a senior member of the Residence Life leadership team, this role is integral in the development, execution, and evaluation of residence goals, policies, organization, and programs. Working in close collaboration with the Office of Wellness & Well-Being, the Manager, Residence Student Support will utilize case management methodology, appropriate intervention strategies and emergency protocols with the ability to coordinate multiple services as required. The Manager, Residence Student Support contributes to the development and implementation of new student support programs and educational initiatives, working collaboratively with campus and community partners to promote initiatives that increase mental health support for students living in residence. The Manager, Residence Student Support will evaluate existing processes, programs and services as part of the continuous improvement of student support within the residence community.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- Master’s degree focused in Counselling, Social Services, Child & Youth Services or College Diploma focused in case management, Child and Youth Services
- Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Registered Social Workers and Social Service Workers, College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, or equivalent
- Specialization/Certification in Case Management is preferred

**Experience**:

- 5 years’ experience leading case management, psychotherapy, consultation, and program development preferably in an academic environment with particular focus on student services and student housing
- Demonstrated knowledge and competence in case management frameworks and practice
- Preferred:
- Experience providing leadership in a complex organization
- Experience developing and managing budgets
- Experience leading project teams and staff

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Knowledge of social work values, ethics, theoretical frameworks and established practices of clinical social work, and competency in clinical practice, including assessment, treatment and crisis intervention
- Understanding of the social determinants of health and the social consequences and risk factors associated with mental illnesses (e.g., substance abuse and addiction, suicide, self-harm, stigma)
- Demonstrated knowledge of community systems, dynamics and community development and proven skill in working with communities and networking between the residence community, other services and advocacy avenues. Understanding of diversity (and its implications) as evidenced in a University setting
- Knowledge and understanding of university and residence life milieu are required.
- Proven ability to think and act both operationally and strategically
- Well established and demonstrated interpersonal, relationship building, leadership, and oral and written communication skills, strong cross-cultural communication skills to interact with a diverse population
- Strong organizational skills and proven ability to exercise a high level of initiative and independent judgement, and the ability to contribute to a strong, team-oriented work environment
- Commitment to ongoing learning as evidenced by remaining abreast of current literature and relevant developments in clinical and human resource management practice
- Competency to maintain confidentiality and treat sensitive information with discretion
- Ability and willingness to employ a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and making decisions
- Ability to handle details with a high degree of accuracy and to organize and prioritize a high volume of work to meet deadlines
