**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**
Reporting to the Director of Community Services, the primary purpose of the **Community Service Coordinator** is to foster, form, and strengthen respectful relationships with MNBC Chartered Communities and Citizens. A Community Service Coordinator will aim to maintain or enhance self-sustaining and thriving communities for Métis people. The position will nurture these relationships and connect/inform communities and citizens of internal and external resources.

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Seeks to strengthen the working relationship between communities and MNBC through trust, respect, accountability, and advocacy.
- Schedules regular community visits in collaboration with other MNBC ministries to ensure a cohesive approach to information, news, and engagement.
- Able to prioritize relationships, identifying resources needed to support the capacity for self-sustaining communities.
- Takes a consultative approach with input from the chartered community to assess the strengths and needs of each unique community.
- Organizes and distributes pertinent communication to community leaders.
- Collaborates with MNBC Ministries to develop a working knowledge of the organization’s programs and services and develop plans to share information in a unified manner.
- Works in partnership with Regional Directors to plan and attend monthly leadership and quarterly regional and annual General Meetings (virtually or in person).
- Assists communities with the rollout of events and programs.
- Prepares a variety of progress and success reports for the Engagement Lead.
- Increases capacity of MNBC Chartered Communities by researching and dispersing information related to funding opportunities.
- Serve as liaison between funders, Chartered communities, and MNBC.
- Monitors paperwork and other related documents connected with grant-funded programs.
- Ability to work independently and multi-task on a variety of projects.
- Seeks creative ways to support program development and assists communities in planning and using any funds received in a timely manner.

**THE IDEAL CANDIDATE**
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in a related discipline such as Business, Communications, Community Relations, or another related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- At least three (3) years’ experience in program coordination.
- Knowledge and/or awareness of the historical and contemporary contributions made by Métis people in BC.
- The ability to collaborate with Métis Communities and citizens to build positive and mutually beneficial relationships.
- Previous experience working in an Indigenous community is required.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate both verbally and in writing effectively.
- Board governance knowledge and minute taking an asset.

- Proven ability to utilize strong interpersonal skills to deal with others effectively.
