Job Title: Art Gallery Administrator

Location: Art Gallery of Sudbury, 251 John St. Sudbury ON

Duration: 8 weeks beginning July 09, 2024 and ending August 31, 2024. Schedule is Tuesday to Saturday from 9h00 to 5h00. $16.55 / hr.

Language: Oral and written level
- English: Advanced Oral and written level - French : Advanced French language skills are a must.

35 hour work week

Canada Summer Job Eligibility:

Under the direct supervision and working closely with the Visitor Services and Operations Coordinator the Gallery Administrator is responsible to provide bilingual administrative, operational and exhibition support for the Art Gallery of Sudbury / Galerie d’art de Sudbury.

Job duties include:

- During public hours, the Intern is responsible for staffing the front desk, answering public inquiries, welcoming visitors and engaging them through dialogue associated with current exhibitions, assisting visitors within the Gift Shop.
- Conduct surveillance of visitors and inspect the galleries, lobby and Gift Shop for any potential danger to either visitors or artwork.
- Perform housekeeping duties to ensure cleanliness of public areas, includes cleaning washrooms. Duties may include vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, etc.
- Assist with either gallery or rental events. Duties include set-up, registration, help clean after the event, etc.
- Register and maintain current Gift Shop inventories. Maintain familiarity with artwork and artists found within the Gallery Shop and in gallery exhibitions.
- Assist with the installation of works at onsite and offsite exhibition venues, providing technical and physical support as directed.
- Provide support for Local Colour Rental program, Featured Artist, Membership Program and other revenue generating activities.
- Provide Visitor services and verbal communication in both French and English to effectively represent the gallery in greeting customers and responding to enquiries.
- Provide registration support for summer programs and related education classes.
- Provide coordination for AGS/GAS opening and closing procedures.
- Operate cash register and process transactions payment.
- Special events support as required.
