**Position Summary**:
We are seeking a dynamic and versatile HR Generalist who will manage a variety of HR responsibilities while playing a crucial role in ensuring health and safety protocols are upheld within our production shop floor. This position combines traditional HR generalist functions—such as talent acquisition and management, policy administration—along with an enhanced focus on health and safety compliance, training, and workplace safety culture. This role will support organizational growth by helping to cultivate a safe and compliant work environment while ensuring a positive employee experience across all departments.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Policy Development & Compliance: Collaborate with the People Development Manager to assist in the development and adherence of HR policies as needed. A key responsibility of this role will be the regular monitoring of company compliance with Alberta’s employment standards.
- Performance Management: Support managers while being a resource for the People Development manager in the performance review process and assist in implementing performance improvement plans when necessary.
- HR Data Management: Maintain accurate employee and contractor records in the HRIS system, tracking employee certifications, training, attendance, and health & safety compliance.
**Health & Safety Responsibilities**:
- Safety Policy Development: Assist in developing and maintaining health and safety policy manual in accordance with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations.
- Workplace Safety: Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety standards. Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Safety Training: Coordinate and facilitate comprehensive health and safety training for all employees and contractors, covering topics such as proper equipment usage, emergency response procedures, and first-aid certifications. Conduct regular toolbox meetings, document findings, and implement necessary actions in collaboration with the production and installation teams to address their specific needs.
- Incident Reporting: Monitor and manage incident reporting, ensuring timely documentation and investigation of accidents or near-miss incidents. Work with management to implement corrective measures.
- Health & Safety Committee: Serve as a key member of the Health and Safety Committee, supporting the development and implementation of safety initiatives and improvements.
- Workers' Compensation: Manage all workers' compensation claims, ensuring proper documentation and communication with both employees and insurance providers.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certification in Occupational Health & Safety is an asset (CRSP or equivalent).
- 3+ years of HR generalist experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Experience with health and safety compliance in a workplace environment.
- Strong understanding of Alberta labor laws and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage several responsibilities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
