The Manager of Facility Operations role is an integral part of the successful operations of the YMCA of Northern Alberta, responsible for ensuring that our facilities meet the needs of our members, communities, and staff. You and your team of eight maintenance professionals will partner with centre-managers in ensuring that our facilities meet our standards of excellence.

You will share responsibility for the daily maintenance operations of 55+ childcare locations, 3 community centres, and 4 health, fitness, and aquatic centres across Northern Alberta in addition to the corporate office in downtown Edmonton. In this role, you will collaborate with our health and safety team to ensure that all work is completed within our regulatory requirements and child protections standards and perpetuate a culture within your team that places safety at the forefront.

You will have the opportunity to use your leadership and project management skills in asset refurbishment and major projects. You will establish strong lines of communication and exhibit masterful interpersonal skills to establish priorities and communicate timelines with the stakeholders your team supports. You will coach your team to provide excellent service and maintain standards for high quality work in our locations.

**Position Responsibilities**
- Respond to facility issues and needs in a timely and efficient manner
- Ensure building and staff safety and regulatory procedures and codes are adhered to at all times including but not limited to the Fire Code, OHS, AHS and YMCA Health and Safety
- Oversee the effective management of physical assets ensuring optimum equipment reliability, uptime, economic life of assets, safety records, environmental compliance, and return on asset investment
- Maintain direct hands-on technical leadership and direction to the facility operators to ensure clean, safe and well maintained facilities
- Provide direct supervision, coaching and performance management to facility operators
- Support asset management annual priority planning
- Implement project management support and oversight for refurbishment and capital projects
- Provide support in the development, preparation, and management of annual operational and capital budgets
- Manage contractor building maintenance including contract negotiation, coordinating external trades people, and evaluating or managing contractor performance for optimal repairs and maintenance on equipment and building systems

**What You’ll Need**
- 3+ years technical experience managing building and equipment operations including plumbing, electrical, pool operation, carpentry, painting, HVAC systems and fire alarm/security systems
- Ability to set priorities with multiple competing tasks while embedding a strong safety and customer service culture
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational, problem solving and decision-making abilities
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge in project management
- WHIMIS, Clear and current Police Clearances and Vulnerable Sector search
- Ability and willingness to travel between facilities is required approximately 40% of the time to serve our Edmonton, Grande Prairie, Red Deer, and Wood Buffalo communities
- Valid Alberta Drivers License and reliable vehicle
- Demonstrated knowledge of legislation and regulatory requirements related to occupational health and safety, labour standards, service regulations, privacy and professional standards of practice
- Competent computer skills including knowledge of Asset Management Software systems (example: Facility Dude)
- 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate
- Certifications considered assets:

- Confined Space Certification (training is available)
- Pool Operator Level 1 & 2 (training is available)

**Work Environment and Physical Demands**
- Able to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) climb ladders and stairs
- Able to work evenings, weekends and on call required
