**Job Summary**

The Clinical Coordinator, as a leader and member of the management team within the Emergency Department, is responsible and accountable for the co-ordination and direction of all patient care, bed utilization, volunteer and staffing-related activities within the area.

**Qualifications**
- RN Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Preferred
- Emergency CNCC
- Minimum of 3-5 years relevant and recent emergency department experience
- CNO, RNAO, other professional affiliations as appropriate
- Demonstrates knowledge in clinical practice in Emergency Services
- Demonstrates a strong patient and customer focus philosophy in all interactions
- Demonstrates highly developed analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrates clinical decision-making and organizational skills
- Demonstrates commitment to professional development

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Liaise with Physicians, Staff, Students and Volunteers;
- The Clinical Coordinator is expected to attend daily bed meetings to lead the optimization of bed utilization in the Emergency Department;
- Lead the team in implementing evidence-based practices within the patient centred care philosophy
- Actively assists in the development of Staff Performance reviews as well as coordinate with staff to complete individual performance reviews as well as 30 and 90 day probationary interviews;
- Actively participates in recruitment process of screening, interviewing and hiring department staff
- Actively participates with the program team in implementing evidence-based practices to achieve program objectives, in particular, assist in the development of clinical pathways or protocols that incorporate evidence-based practice;
- Support the development of a Patient Centred Care environment, shared governance models and structures and continuous learning and education;
- Acts as the program champion in corporate initiatives including, but not limited to, Hand Hygiene, AIDET, IMCR, Staff/Patient Satisfaction, Hardwiring and any other corporate initiatives as assigned. As the assigned program champion of such corporate initiatives all duties as assigned will be completed in a timely and comprehensive manner;
- The Clinical Coordinator will actively participate in the accreditation process and will assist in the development of program goals and objectives related to the accreditation process with timely follow up;
- All -interprofessional personnel assigned to the clinical area report directly to the Clinical Coordinator with respect to patient care and staff issues.
