**Position Summary**

Under the supervision of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, First Nations Family Advocate Office, N’Dinawemak Manager, the Assistant Manager will assist with the overall management functions of N’Dinawemak, the supervision of staff, implementation of policies and procedures, coordination of program and support services to meet the needs of the relatives.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Responsible for assisting Manager with supervision, support, performance management, evaluation, and assignment of staff according to the direction and prioritization.
- Ensures that personnel files are maintained and secured and ensures adherence to personnel policies.
- Submit attendance to HR biweekly.
- Organize staff meetings, keep staff informed on new developments. Organize monthly meetings with team leads.
- Create policies by collaborating with the teams leads on expectations.
- Assist staff with organizing programming for the relatives.
- Post notices for the relatives on any new policies affecting the services at N’Dinawemak.
- Ensure staff have a sufficient supply of Critical Incident Reports and Intake Forms.
- Review Critical Incident Reports and develop policies on how to address incidents.
- Represent N’Dinawemak or delegate representatives to attend meetings with relatives.
- May be required to attend meetings with partners and other organizations.
- Assist with budgeting and planning for N’Dinawemak.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**

**Education & Experience**
- University degree with emphasis on public administration, business, management, healthcare or social work, or an equivalent combination of experience and a relevant discipline with a minimum of 2 years management experience.
- Knowledge of First Nations grassroots and community issues, transitional issues, governance, socio-economic, traditions and cultural systems.
- Excellent written, negotiations, and oral communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills.
- Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective networks, strategic partnerships, and relationships.
- Significant knowledge and understanding of urban community service entities and/or organizations.
- Adhere to AMC policies and procedures with specific attention to attendance, and professional ethics.
- First Nations language would be an asset.
- Must be able to continuously deal with high stressful situations.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including overnight shifts and weekends.
- Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License, and a reliable vehicle.
- Must have a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Clear Adult and Child Abuse Checks.
