Opportunity

The Manager, Indigenous Relations & Organizational Inclusion will lead the development, implementation, and ongoing leadership of strategic, high impact partner relationship with Indigenous Nations and organizations. This role will report into the Director, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) and Employee Experience, and will be responsible for success through cultural and systemic strategic initiatives that aligned with AIMCo’s commitment to support the advancement of Truth & Reconciliation.

**Responsibilities**:

- Lead the meaningful integration of Indigenous perspectives and implement comprehensive Indigenous engagement plans, both internally and externally, to support AIMCo’s commitment to Indigenous inclusion and Truth and Reconciliation
- Project Manage AIMCo’s participation in the Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations (PAIR) Program and certification activities including but not limited to:

- Develop and nurture relationships with communities, organizations, and individuals to inform strategic sponsorships, partnerships and resources
- The identification, design and / or execution of professional development programs, training, and training materials that enable all AIMCO employees to support AIMCo’s commitment to advancing Truth and Reconciliation fully and meaningfully within their work.
- The respectful and culturally informed integration of Indigenous perspectives, interests, and traditional knowledge into AIMCo’s policies, programs, and educational resources.
- Tracking and measurement of the progress of AIMCo’s Indigenous Relations Strategy and PAIR including reporting on activities to senior management
- Provide guidance, support and influence on the organization on matters and opportunities related to Indigenous Relations including:

- Procurement
- Workforce development
- Indigenous investment strategies
- Lead the communication and celebration of Indigenous culture and ways of working both internally and externally including:

- Communicating the corporation’s Indigenous relations approach and framework across the company internally and externally
- Collaborating with and supporting the AIMCo Indigenous Employee Resource Group
- Collaborating with the AIMCo communications team to share knowledge and recognize key dates including National Indigenous Peoples Day and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
- Work collaboratively with internal teams (i.e.; People and Culture, Procurement, Risk, Investment Management, etc) to foster awareness and appropriate systems to advance of Truth and Reconciliation.
- Partner and support additional DEI efforts that fall outside the scope of Indigenous demographics.
- 3+ years of manager level experience and/or 5+ years of relevant project management experience
- An existing and strong network of relationships with Indigenous Peoples, communities and organizations across Alberta and Canada
- Meaningful experience engaging directly with Indigenous communities and organizations to build and progress corporate Indigenous Relations strategies
- Experience project managing participation in the PAIR Program and / or other relevant and respected organizational Indigenous certifications, pledges, or systems
- Ability to leverage a strong working knowledge of Indigenous perspectives, knowledge systems, current events, opportunities and nuances to inform and influence organizational practices and strategies
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, while collaborating with internal and external partners
- Proven experience contributing to high-profile initiatives with successful outcomes
- Ability to influence a wide array of internal and external audiences and interested parties to create positive impact for Indigenous communities and employees through outstanding communication
- Post Secondary education in Indigenous studies, DEI, or a related field of social impact would be considered an asset but is not required.
