**Job Summary**:
The mission of the Global Event Specialist** **is to create, plan, and execute phenomenal event experiences that engage attendees, and meet our marketing and broader business objectives.

As a key member of the Global Events Team (GET) within the Marketing organization at D2L, you will be responsible for the planning and tactical execution of various D2L proprietary, and 3rd party sponsored events. You will create and manage memorable event experiences that generate leads, influence pipe, build on our brand momentum, and showcase our company, customers, products, services and staff.

**How you will make an impact**:

- Manage event experiences from concept through completion - planning and preparations, coordination of on-site logistics and production and post-event follow-up - ensuring high-level service throughout.
- Coordinate with various departments within the organization, as well as external vendors, and others to establish needs for events throughout all the phases.
- Cross-functional coordination of tasks and the development of materials, content, assets, toolkits, creative, messaging, and event technical, production, and logístical elements.
- Liaise and prepare speakers, sponsors, vendors, and enable event staff.
- Prepare and manage scope, timelines, actions, tasks, risk mitigation plans, dependencies, budget, and purchase requests.
- Serve as a liaison to key stakeholders and clearly communicate and report on event goals and results.
- Troubleshoot and handle issues that arise in planning leading up to as well as the day of the event.
- Assist in enabling internal and external messengers to amplify messaging, drive event registrations, engagement, feedback, and follow-up through various channels.
- Maintain event calendar and communicate event activities and results across the organization.
- Nurture and build relationships with internal teams, external vendors, venues, and other industry contacts.
- Stay current and ahead of the curve on the key industry events, as well as event planning, outreach, design, and experience trends, with an eye towards continuous improvement, and sharing insights and learnings across the team.
- Coordinate the daily details with understanding of big thinking to ensure unique and immersive event experiences.

**What you’ll bring to the role and what we expect**:

- 2+ years of proven experience and success as an event coordinator or specialist, owning end-to-end planning and execution of in-person events.
- Ability to think quickly under pressure, solve difficult problems, and make split-second decisions.
- Strong ability to coordinate not only your own tasks but also coordinate and drive cross-functional alignment and task accountability with others.
- Advanced collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities in parallel and meeting hard deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills, including multi-tasking and time management.
- A self-motivated and outgoing individual with the ability to work independently and with a team.
- Ability to delegate and clearly communicate goals and responsibility to others to meet expectations.
- Meticulous attention to detail as there is always an element of administration duties, data entry, and contract, venue and technical reviews in event planning and execution.
- Advanced MS Excel skills are an asset.
- Experience in building enriching working relationships and managing external vendor relationships, both in-person and remotely.
- Creative mindset and stamina to try new things and figure out how to continuously improve.
- Proficiency with Modus, Marketo, Salesforce or similar CRM technologies preferred.
- Communication writing and/or copywriting experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of marketing demand generation funnel is an asset.
- Flexibility to work even at irregular hours and to travel domestically and internationally, as needed.
