The Ministry of Immigration and Multiculturalism has an exciting opportunity and is looking for a **Program Specialist **to join our team

The **Program Specialist **is responsible for the collection, assembly, analysis, and dissemination of pre-arrival and integration information and research in support of Newcomer Integration activities and programs. In this role, you will also be involved in the preparation of informational materials (website, brochures, etc.) and will assist in the development, preparation, and participation of outreach and awards events. The position will work on issues and activities identified in the Unit's annual plan.

Reporting to the Manager of Immigration Services, the Program Specialist ensures information service delivery to support newcomers through the continuum of pre-arrival to integration This includes pre-arrival and newcomer immigration outreach initiatives; pre-arrival and newcomer correspondence on immigration programming and services; supporting Francophone immigration to Alberta; provision of foreign qualification recognition information; and recognizing newcomers for their contributions to Alberta and its communities (Alberta Newcomer Recognition Awards).

**In your role as a Program Specialist, you will be responsible for**:
**1. Environmental scanning, research and analysis services are provided to identify issues and keep management and team members informed of current and relevant articles and publications.**
- Research labour, region and sector needs and prepare briefing notes, as required.
- Monitor and review announcements, news, publications, etc. summarizing key points relating to immigration and integration and identifying emerging issues for attention of unit, division and/or ministry representatives.

**2. Appropriate, precise and timely responses are prepared for enquiries and correspondence received through Action Requests (direct replies and telephone action requests), stakeholder requests, and the immigration pathways mailbox.**
- Train and mentor Immigration Services Officers in the preparation of action request responses and other communications materials.
- Collects and verifies information pertaining to enquiries and assignments, including making connections with other branches, divisions or ministries, as required.

**3. Preparation of immigration and newcomer settlement and integration information for web and publication content.**
- Work with Communications staff in developing from concept to publication, brochures and marketing materials about Alberta's, immigration pathways, pre-arrival information, FQR, settlement and integration services and supports, etc.
- Assist in developing projects and information products for the promotion and dissemination of immigration, settlement, integration and awards information.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret information from sources including municipal and provincial government departments, other levels of government, and industry organizations to support labour attraction and information delivery strategies and initiatives.

**4. Outreach and Events.**
- Support delivery of Newcomer Recognition Awards, including planning, preparing briefing material, communication, awards mailbox, nomination submission receipt, review, recommendation, reports, etc.
- Organize, in conjunction with staff from other departments/ministries, labour attraction missions, which may include private and public sector participants.

**5. Support and participate in committee and cross-divisional activities.**
- Support Francophone Immigration Committee and ministry actions related to Alberta's French Policy Action Plan.
- Completion of Action Requests (ARs) using both individual research and coordinating input from Branch and external experts.
- Composes responses, considering the author's style and position and ensuring consistency, clarity, conciseness and accuracy of messages.

**Qualifications**:
**Requirements**:

- University Degree in a related field plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.

**Equivalency**: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

**Assets**:

- Knowledge of provincial government immigration policies, strategies and initiatives.
- Knowledge of newcomers' needs as well as the settlement and integration process.
- Ability to perform research, analysis and provide recommendations on government communications, programs and services.
