**Newcomer Centre's Community Programs** empower and connect newcomers through various dynamic initiatives, our holistic programming fosters meaningful community participation, tackles isolation, and embraces diversity. By embracing innovative approaches like prevention, human-centered design, and community-driven models, we create a lasting impact and enhance the resettlement journey.

**the challenge**

The Community Programs Department delivers holistic and comprehensive programming to promote meaningful community participation and reduce isolation. The current programs in this area include (but are not limited to):

- Ethnocultural Community Leader Empowerment
- Global Garden
- IWIN (Immigrant Women’s Integration Network)
- Safe Families for Boys and Men
- S.K.Y Club
- Global Girls
- Empower HER
- Volunteer Services
- New Horizons for Seniors

The Community Programs Department delivers programming through a combination of approaches such as prevention, human centered design and community driven models. Your core work will be in I-WIN program, but we aim to work collaboratively across the department, holistically supporting individuals and their families when possible. This role brings together facilitation expertise, participant relations coordination, and program development experience to deliver programming that is empowering, inclusive, and equitable.

- Build meaningful and empathetic relationships with program participants and community members, discovering their unique strengths, interests, and needs. Support and encourage their active engagement with Community Programs, making a positive impact in their lives.
- Facilitate inspiring in-person and virtual program sessions, activities, and meetings using the collaboratively developed facilitation guides and program plans. Bring your passion and energy to create engaging experiences for all participants.
- Compile, adapt, and develop resource materials for Community Programs, providing participants with valuable tools for personal and professional development.
- Develop and implement compelling communications strategies and materials for Community Programs. Through posters, newsletters, presentations, and social media, inspire and engage the community.
- Capture the impact of program activities through detailed documentation, supporting essential reporting to funders and stakeholders. Showcase the positive changes and growth resulting from our collective efforts.
- Cultivate respectful relationships with external partners to enhance program delivery, strengthening our impact and reach in the community.
- Play a lead role in planning and executing the logistics for Community Programs, from booking spaces to organizing field trips, coordinating guest speakers, managing registrations, and ensuring supplies are readily available. Be the driving force behind successful and memorable events.
- Take charge of developing and revising facilitation guides and program plans that reflect the participants' strengths, interests, and valuable feedback. Be part of creating dynamic and inclusive programs that resonate with our community.

**what it takes**

While all backgrounds will be considered, the most helpful history will include two years of experience working with immigrant and refugee communities, including women, and a strong understanding of program planning, logistics, and communications, focusing on community-driven development.

To do this job satisfactorily, the role requires regular weekdays and with a possibility of occasional evenings and weekends. A valid Class 5 driver's license and insured and registered reliable vehicle access is an asset.
