Division Wellness Coordinator - 1.0 FTE
Guided by the Division’s foundational statements and trauma-informed research, the Wellness Coordinator, under the supervision and direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Learning Services, supports the implementation of strategies that assist in achieving the division’s Board Priorities associated with student and staff wellness.
The Division Wellness Coordinator is responsible for establishing and connecting community support, as well as providing strategies, and expertise in accordance with established procedures to parent/guardian(s) and teachers for students with complex needs. This will require the Wellness Coordinator to supervise, meet, communicate and collaborate with all Family School Liaison Workers and School Counselors on a regular basis.
**Qualifications**:
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Social Work, Psychology, Behavior Interventions or related discipline or a Bachelor of Education with a specialization in psychology or counseling.
Experience with crisis intervention, suicide intervention training and at-risk behaviors.
Minimum 3 years experience working in mental health or related field.
**The following would be an asset to the position**:
Previous experience as a Family School Liaison Worker or Teacher/Counselor.
Formal qualifications and/or training in counseling/therapy.
Self-motivated and self-directed with mínimal need for direct supervision.
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Demonstrated strong regard for issues of confidentiality and dealing with highly sensitive material.
Proven ability and commitment to work effectively with multiple communities and people in sensitive and complex situations.
Effective communication skills and the ability to model these skills to students and staff.
Familiarity and competency with appropriate technologies.
Demonstrated understanding of the cultural knowledge and perspective required to connect with students from diverse communities.
