**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
The Health Promotion Coordinator (HPC) is responsible for the planning, implementation, coordination and evaluation of programs based on the social determinants of health that engage the campus student community in maintaining their health and wellness. The incumbent promotes health in the best interest of students while professionally representing the Campus Health and Wellness Centre (CHWC).
The HPC is responsible for developing programming on a number of health topic areas such as sexual health, drugs/alcohol, mental health, nutrition, smoking cessation, sleep and physical activity. The incumbent is also responsible for coordinating information on the CHWC website and providing customer service, event planning and delivery, presentations and workshops, and social media and website administration in addition to their health promotion activities.
Program and Service Development, Implementation and Evaluation:
- Develop strong, evidence-informed, data-driven programs, educational presentations, workshops, events and services based on relevant, measurable, and practical health outcomes.
- Creates, maintains and revises health promotion (HP) content and educational or awareness tools, programs and events according to evidence-based research, changing information, evaluation results and current student style, behaviours and values.
- Evaluates HP programs and implement changes when appropriate to ensure continuous improvement.
Customer Service and Digital Health Communication:
- Refers visitors as appropriate to CHWC, campus or community groups/agencies and or professionals.
- Maintains up to date health promotion activities and programming and education events.
- Provides informal consultations/education to students requiring health and wellness teachings and guidance for various concerns in a group setting
- Supports students with their mental health and wellbeing by providing internal/external referrals/resources.
Partnership Development:
- Participates in campus committees maintain relationships with campus stakeholder groups to identify opportunities to expand or enhance health education activities and optimize the impact of public health and health promotion activities.
- Develops partnerships with other campus departments working on student health and wellness.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders off campus to develop a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to promote health topics to students - Public Health, CACUSS, OUCHA, etc.
- Seeks external funding opportunities to support mental health and well-being on campus.
- Assists the Director in utilizing the health promotions budget to deliver as many resources as possible to students for the enhancement of their education and wellness. Incumbent will provide suggestions to the Director in developing the annual budget proposal based on needs of the student population.
Volunteer and Student Leadership:
- Assists with the recruitment and onboarding, and provides guidance and delegation to student volunteers, placement and work-study students in health promotion.
- Leads/coordinates weekly meetings, booking space and equipment, assists with training for work-study students.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- A minimum of a four (4) year degree in a health-related field, therapeutic recreation, psychology, or education is required.
- Valid Mental Health First Aid certification is required.
- A minimum of three (3) years of work experience in health promotion or health education is required.
