The Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy proudly offers more than a dozen teaching programs in a variety of areas of global expertise. The Asian Institute is composed of several unique and interconnected centres that host more than 100 academic events every year. Each centre supports the profound, specialized knowledge about particular regions that is required to understand the intricacies of local issues, while collaborating to foster transnational and interdisciplinary discussions that transcend and contextualize local viewpoints. Our undergraduate and graduate teaching programs further this approach, balancing regional specialization with pan-Asian and global conversations. Our institute is home to an outstanding faculty and provides a vast array of experiential learning opportunities, both at home and in Asia.

Under the general supervision of the Manager, Asian Institute’s (AI) and general direction of the Director of the AI, and its sub-program academic directors, the Program Advisor and Communications Officer is responsible for the communications and outreach, awards and admissions administration, as well as the administrative and advising functions of the undergraduate and graduate programs at AI of which there are four distinct programs: Contemporary Asian Studies (undergraduate, major and minor), South Asian Studies (undergraduate minor), East and South-East Asian Studies (Master’s Collaborative Specialization), and South Asian Studies (PhD Collaborative Specialization).

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Advising students on program and/or course requirements by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences
- Determining logístical details required for the execution of admissions processes
- Collecting and passing on submissions for award competition
- Determining logístical details and activities for events and/or programming
- Editing content for brochures, newsletters, websites and/or handbooks
- Generating reports
- Serving as a resource to others by providing (non-supervisory) job-related guidance

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum three years of recent and related experience in student services, program administration and communications for both graduate and undergraduate programs in a post secondary institute.
- Experience handling academic petitions, developingand maintaining records and files, coordinating the academic calendar submissions, course scheduling and room assignments, developing and maintaining databases on student activities, awards, and initiatives.
- Experience in targeted communications for current and prospective students.
- Experience advising undergraduate and graduate students on program matters
- Experience with minute-taking and providing administrative support to faculty members, administrative committees and academicprogram directors.
- Experience with student outreach initiatives, events, and materials development.
- Experience produce promotional content for websites and newsletters, organizing student outreach initiatives and the associated promotional material, and developing and managing digital media outreach.
- Extensive knowledge of the University with an emphasis on the Faculty of Arts and Science undergraduate and SGS procedures and guidelines.
- Advanced skills in ACORN and otherrelated student database
