The Ministry for Children and Family Development is one of the largest ministries in the BC Government. Its primary roles are to assist individuals and/or families in need and to ensure the safety and/or well-being of children. The Indigenous Youth Teams work in collaboration with community partners to provide specialized protective and support services to Indigenous youth.

The Youth Outreach and Empowerment Team (YOET) works in collaboration with community partners to provide specialized protective and support services to the most vulnerable youth in the communities of Surrey, White Rock, Langley and Delta.

This position works with a multi-disciplinary team to engage and support vulnerable youth who have been referred to the YOET and meet the criteria that deems them to be in a significant high-risk situation*. The positions supports the MCFD social workers, mental health clinicians and Roots Practitioners in developing and implementing a strategy to engage youth and young adults receiving services to share their expertise on the development and delivery of effective, client-centred, accessible, safe and appropriate services. Key Goals include: to increase positive youth developmental capacities; to increase informed decision-making processes with youth; to increase the capacity, participation and community ownership of decision making with youth; and to promote and establish strong, sustainable adult-youth partnerships.

**Job Requirements**:
**Education and experience**:

- Diploma in human, health or social services or a related field plus **6 months** of related experience* **OR**:

- Certificate in human, health or social services or a related field plus **18 months **related experience* **OR**:

- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Related experience must include:

- Lived experience as a former youth from care (former child in foster care, via continuing or temporary custody order, or youth agreement).
- With experience working with Indigenous youth and communities.
- With experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds.
- With experience planning, organizing, and facilitating youth sessions, events and meetings within a community environment.
- Who have had personal experience with Ministry of Children and Family Development programs and services as a youth such as guardianship services (child in care), the out of care programs (Extended Family Program or court-ordered out-of-care), Youth Agreements or Agreements with Young Adults.

**About this Position**:
There are 3 permanent positions on 3 different youth teams.
2 positions are with South Fraser - Surrey, Delta, Langley, White Rock (Indigenous Youth Team and Youth Outreach and Empowerment Team)
1 position is with North/East Fraser - Burnaby, New Westminster, Port Moody, Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge (Indigenous Youth Team)
