**Location - **Work primarily takes place at Enterprise Square. This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person.

The mission of the University of Alberta’s Office of Development is to promote and encourage philanthropy in support of the academic goals of the University of Alberta. The goal of Donor Relations is to ensure donors who support the University of Alberta feel connected, informed, valued, and respected. Through a collaborative and donor-centric approach, the Donor Relations team provides strategic advice, guidance, and support to the External Relations community by helping to build positive long-term relationships with donors and prospects. Key areas of expertise include accurate and timely gift acknowledgement, awards and endowment reporting, recognition, engagement and the development of impact reports.

**Position**

The Donor Relations Officer is responsible for providing strategic direction and management of programs that nurture and strengthen positive long-term relationships with donors that result in increased donor retention, enhanced donor affinity and assist in meeting the overall development goals of the university.

This part-time position focuses on the systems and processes that ensure data integrity and accuracy for all Donor Relations programs. The part-time Donor Relations Officer is an expert user and acts as a resource for colleagues when dealing with donor data management.

**Duties**
- Expert user in Advance, Alfresco and spreadsheet software programs to support Donor Relations programs
- Leads the university’s annual Endowment Fund Reporting project. This includes implementing the mechanisms and processes to accurately and completely report on the performance of both the overall university endowment fund and specific donor funds; each year approximately 2,000 individual reports are prepared.
- Oversees the integration of endowed and non-endowed fund data into the Advance donor database.
- Maintain best practices for donor data entry, hygiene and maintenance in Development systems, which may include Advance, Alfresco, etc., for the Donor Relations team
- Researches and creates custom impact reports for donors and colleagues on an as-needed basis

**Minimum Qualifications**
- A bachelor’s degree is required
- Experience with Advance, Alfresco and working with data
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated excellence in problem solving, superior attention to detail, and ability to coordinate multiple projects requiring close communication with staff to maintain high accuracy and productivity of team with minimum supervision
- Strong knowledge of the utilization of information systems to support project and data management.
- Exceptional verbal, written, proofreading, and editing skills
- Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills: tact, self-confidence and assertiveness, diplomacy, teamwork, good judgement, confidentiality, and excellent strategic planning skills
- Creative, energetic, self-motivated, proactive and goal oriented
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple and shifting priorities
- Demonstrated ability to interact with senior university administration in a variety of business and social settings plus experience working with high-profile volunteers and donors
- Demonstrated ability to be a contributing member of multidisciplinary team

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Willingness to adjust work schedule as needed to meet the demands of the position
- Three to four years of fundraising, stewardship, donor relations or related experience, ideally in a post-secondary environment
