**FUND DEVELOPMENT OFFICER**

**Permanent, Full-Time / 37.50 hours per week**

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic **Fund Development Officer**to lead our agency to secure funds that will support the vision, mission, and values of KARA Family Resource Centre.

The Fund Development Officer will collaborate with the leadership team to prioritize agency fundraising activities and meet organizational needs, including setting financial targets for the agency fundraising activities and creating strategies for reaching them. The Fund Development Officer will research, develop, oversee, and implement fundraising activities, including single events and detailed campaigns, that will benefit the agency. They will contact and build relationships with prospective sponsors and donors and assist with the development of funding proposals in consultation with the leadership team and staff.

**HIGHLIGHTS of KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

1. Raise funds to support the work of KARA Family Resource Centre and consistently meet or surpass fundraising targets.

2. Determine overall agency direction, strategies, and new initiatives for increased donor participation.

3. Research potential donors to gain insight into their needs, beliefs, and donation habits, to better understand how to align KARA to their priorities.

4. Build upon existing donor relationships and form new donor relationships on a regular basis.
5. Maintain complete and orderly records of donors and manage regular donor communications.
6. Brainstorm and create new methods to raise funds for KARA FRC.
7. Plan, coordinate and manage events meant to raise funds and coordinate activities of staff and volunteers related to event planning and execution.
8. Create marketing materials, like flyers and brochures, to be used for the promotion of events and other fundraising initiatives.

9. Leverage technology and social media where possible to improve fundraising activities.
10. Analyze, assess, and evaluate the performance of events and other fundraising activities for effectiveness and to identify areas where money can be saved.
11. Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with agency staff, volunteers, clients and other professionals.
12. Meet with leadership team and program staff to discuss program needs and exchange information.
13. Contribute to the overall leadership of KARA through participation on the KARA Leadership Team and other internal committees.
14. Follow written and verbal directives from the Executive Director or designate.
15. Develop funding proposals in consultation with program staff, KARA Leadership Team, funders, and other stakeholders.
16. Maintain professional growth and a current knowledge of professional and community resources.
17. Collaborate with other organizations and groups within the community to build partnerships and enhance fundraising activities.
18. Attend and represent KARA Family Resource Centre at community events, meetings, and projects as required.

**JOB SKILLS & ABILITIES**
- Specialized skills and demonstrated competency in the areas of fund development, event planning, communications, marketing, and other related areas.
- Demonstrated competency in management skills, including leadership. Well-developed planning, organizational and administrative skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Required to work in a dynamic environment which may call for adaptation to emerging trends/demands. A high level of motivation and sensitivity is required to effectively engage with a variety of individuals.
- Be highly motivated to complete tasks/duties/daily maintenance in a timely manner.
- Commitment to a problem-solving approach.
- Represent KARA Family Resource Centre in a positive and professional manner when in contact with outside agencies, professionals, or community.
- Demonstrated competency for and understanding of a community development approach and community-based service delivery.
- Ability to work effectively with program staff, volunteers, and non-profit or publicly funded groups, agencies, and organizations.
- Ability to identify sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality.
- Must be sensitive to and respectful of cultural and lifestyle diversity.
- Must have an appropriate valid Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle.

**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**
- Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, and/or certificate in Fundraising and Event Planning courses, and/or a combination of relevant training, education, and experience.
- Minimum five years experience in the non-profit sector, with a proven track record in development and stakeholder relations.
- Minimum two years of recent related experience working with staff, volunteers, recruiting funds through events and donors, and managing budgets.
