The Payroll Clerk works under the direction of the Payroll Administrator.

The Payroll Clerk is responsible for processing or assisting with the processing of the organization's multi-provincial payrolls accurately and on time. You will assist with the full-cycle activities of the payroll function, including accounting, journal entries and reconciliations while ensuring compliance with company policy, collective agreements, and government legislation.

The working environment is fast paced with deadline-driven tasks. You need to have a high level of discretion in handling confidential information. You will be asked to assist with multiple items at once and prioritize tasks, while also offering suggestions on process improvements.
- Process bi-weekly multi-provincial payroll for hourly and salaried employees
- Assist or take the lead on the processing of the weekly multi-provincial payroll for hourly employees
- Back up for the semi monthly multi-provincial payroll for salaried employees
- Set up new employees in hourly payroll system, as required
- Set up all garnishments in the payroll system
- Assist with the preparation of remittances for taxes, workers compensation boards, unions, etc, as needed
- Processing terminations
- Prepare journal entries to the General Ledger
- Assist with the preparation of T-4s and RL-1s
- Maintain up to date knowledge of employee hourly contracts and collective agreements
- Participate in system testing, as needed
- Responding to payroll related inquiries
- Ad-hoc reporting for various stakeholders

**Qualifications**
- College diploma in business, payroll or finance studies
- 1-3 years unionized payroll experience preferred
- Advanced knowledge of payroll systems and Microsoft Office
- Preference will be given to those with experience using Sage 300CRE (Timberline)
