The St. George's School’s Events Officer provides leadership in the coordination, implementation and evaluation of events within the dynamic St. George's community. Our Events Officer strives to create various events which support the overall mission, vision and strategic direction of the school. Our events that take place throughout the year are often key moments that draw our community together and build our community’s bonds. As such, the professionalism, vibrancy and unique ideas of how each event is coordinated and delivered is critical to the mission and work of the school.

Existing annual events range in size and scope. Some of our core events include Graduation, Remembrance Day ceremony, staff Holiday party, retirement parties, welcome back picnic, end of year staff picnic, and they are just a small portion among many other varied events throughout the year. This individual will also be responsible for leading, planning and coordinating the new building opening event.

Responsibilities will include:
Create a high-quality guest experience through attention to detail, strong organizational skills, creative and innovative thinking, and passion for events;
Leads the development of new events and maintains, organizes and coordinates existing events from conception to completion, ensuring they operate smoothly and enhancing the purpose of the event;
Coordinates with the bookings team regarding various event coordination;
Coordinates and leads event committees and volunteers, delegating work to volunteers where needed;
Establishes and monitors event budgets;
Researches and evaluates a range of suppliers or service providers, according to event requirements;
Coordinates with internal departments to ensure the availability of space and services;
Maintains comprehensive and organized records of event details;
Processes paperwork promptly and accurately;
Collaborates proactively and effectively with other internal departments involved, such as communications, finance, catering, maintenance and security;
Ensures compliance with BC regulations in areas such as gaming, liquor, charitable gifts, etc.;
Ensures that volunteers have the resources, supplies, information and training required to fulfill their duties;
Develops and maintains a calendar of internal and local community events;
Captures feedback following events and uses results to help shape future events;
Supporting individual departments with their departmental events, as required;
Works a varied schedule based on the needs and times of different events;
Be an active and visible member of the school community through participation in school-wide events, assemblies, etc.

Qualifications will include:
2-4 years event coordination experience;
Preference of post-secondary degree in a related field;
Experience working in the not-for-profit sector preferred;
A passion for event planning;
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and changing working environment;
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple project requests and tasks;
Ability to work well under stress and is deadline driven;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Highly-organized, efficient, and with attention to detail;
Ability to build relationships and has outstanding customer service skills;
Outgoing and engaging;
Demonstrated track record of independent work along with creative and proactive problem-solving skills;
Demonstrated ability to take initiative and to prioritize tasks;
Ability to work as part of a team and independently;
Comfortable operating basic audio/visual equipment;
Accepts ownership and accountability and possesses a high level of integrity;
Ability to support, reinforce, and emulate the School’s six core values.
