**DISABILITY MANAGEMENT WORKER (Canada Summer Job)**
**Job Status**: _Temporary, Full-time_

**This position is designed for a person who self-identifies as having a disability.**
Options Community Services is a non-profit registered charity providing social services primarily in Surrey, Delta, White Rock and Langley. We believe in helping people help themselves. We believe in collaborating with individuals, businesses, community groups and government to create focused, effective and responsive resources for the community.
This position works with the Child and Youth Worker and will assist in organizing recreational, community outings and events (in person or virtual) in cooperation with regular staff that work with children that have a developmental disability or autism in developing life skills. In addition, it will assist in creating activities that provide recreational, educational and social opportunities for children in a community setting.

**ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Assist in creating a monthly newsletter that offers parents different recreational activities.
- Developing and implementing a wide range of summer activities for children and youth that have a developmental disability.
- Creating opportunities that provide recreational, educational and social support for children in a community setting.
- May involve designing online programming such as a yoga class, virtual farm tour, etc.
- Supervising and ensuring the safety of children during planned recreational activities along with regular Child and Youth Care Counsellor staff.
- Perform other duties necessary for the enhancement of the program as directed by assistant program manager or program manager.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education, Training, and Experience**:
- Experience with online social media platforms (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok)
- Experience working in programs with children with disabilities is preferred.
- Diploma in Child and Youth care is preferred.
**Skills and Abilities**:
- Demonstrated flexibility and the willingness to adapt to changing situations.
- Energetic and passionate about working with children and youth.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and effective communication skills
- Commitment to a problem-solving approach.
- Ability to identify sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality.
- Good organization and time-management skills.
- Ability to work individually and as a part of the team.
**ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS**
This position is supported by the Canada Summer Jobs (2023) program. This position is contingent on Federal Government Grant funding.
- Must be either a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred (international students are ineligible) and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
**SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check / Vulnerable Sector search as per the agency policy.
- Personnel must sign a Confidentiality Agreement and Code of Ethics.
