**The Opportunity**

The Fitness Coordinator will ensure that fitness programs provide exceptional experience for participants of all ages. The Coordinator will provide leadership in the set-up and day-to-day operational activities including the supervision and coaching of a staff and volunteer team. The Coordinator will provide leadership and stability in the development and direct delivery of programs. Within this role, the coordinator will also support Field House Fitness, in addition to implementing and overseeing retention initiatives, administrative tasks, planning and delivery of programs.

The Fitness Coordinator will also be part of the Duty Manager team ensuring the Centre has supervisory coverage at all times it is open. This will require you to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

**Responsibilities**:

- Effectively plan, organize and lead scheduled fitness programs, orientations, consultations and group fitness classes.
- Manage and lead the Member Retention YThrive program, including training staff and volunteers, scheduling appointments, overseeing transition and communication of releases and delivery of appointments.
- Work closely with the Health and Wellness Coordinator to collaborate on processes and people, new initiatives and implementation and delivery of programs, training and services.
- Work collaboratively with the HMR Leadership Team to understand current programs and how to compliment what is already being offered in order to support all members of the family.
- Employ inclusive and adaptive programming principles to cater to all participating members and resource additional support as deemed necessary.
- Provide leadership to build a productive and happy team that delivers quality, consistent YMCA member services including but not limited to physical fitness, development, recreational, personal training and special population populations.
- Provide SAM, building relationships and continuing education credits for all HMR staff and volunteers.
- Organize and facilitate leadership training to volunteers and staff to ensure program quality assurance.
- Scheduling and administrative duties demonstrating program and service participation, trends and quality.
- Maintain a safe and organized fitness center and program spaces.
- Maintain program and facility equipment, during activity set up and tear down; in a clean and orderly manner.
- Support budget development and management, measuring outcomes and key metrics for each component.
- Communicate and enforce facility guidelines to ensure a safe and controlled environment while paying keen attention to accident/incident prevention.
- Understanding of Child Protection Policies and Practices.
- Role models excellent service by spending a minimum of 75% of your time building staff, volunteer and member relationships through direct delivery of Group Fitness Classes, orientations, fitness centre programs, personal training, shadowing staff and volunteers, evaluating and coaching staff and volunteers.
- Provides efficient, effective and excellent member service through appropriate scheduling and acts as a back-up when necessary.
- Plan, develop, co-ordinate and implement processes and strategies that will increase the depth of involvement of each YMCA member/participants.
- Ensures that all YMCA SAM Standards are met or exceeded.
- Assesses conflict situations and exercises sound judgment in recommending and facilitating solutions.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's Degree, Community College diploma
- Personal Training, Group Fitness and MOSSA Certifications; or willing to obtain
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working in recreational programming setting
- Professional with a strong work ethic and organizational skills.
- Flexible working hours include early mornings, days, evenings and weekends.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills including written and verbal, a team player.
- Experience in recruitment, hiring, performance management and training of staff, considered an asset.
- Computer literate and able to function within Microsoft office and Windows environment.
