We are looking for a Planning and Policy Analyst in our Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP). The Planning and Policy Analyst would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

Under the general direction of the Director General, the Planning and Policy Analyst provides general support on projects for the IRAP Division, e.g. preparing analysis, assisting in planning activities, conducting research and analysis on technologies and socio-economic trends, and managing projects under the auspices of the IRAP Strategy.

The Planning and Policy Analyst provides strategic level support for the development of relationships with key Regional stakeholders (Other Government Departments, IRAP regions & VPO, Corporate NRC branches) as well as support the implementation of the Division Strategy and plans, and monitoring and review of progress against objectives.

In addition, the Planning and Policy Analyst provides process or policy advice on complex innovation and economic files under the responsibility of the Director General. They will manage incoming client complaints, address concerns with client intake processes within the region as well as special cases for contributions agreement.

The Planning and Policy Analyst will research and prepare background material and briefings for the Director General on sensitive issues, committee meetings, and Division stakeholders.

**Education**:
University degree in science, engineering, business/public administration, law, political sciences, economics, international relations or in another field that is relevant to the duties of this position.

**Experience**:

- Experience serving a number of internal and external clients and interacting with multiple stakeholders from government and the private sector.
- Experience in research (including environmental scanning), analysis, preparation and presentation of detailed reports on issues related to innovation, government science and technology policy, and their relevance/implication for NRC and SMEs in Canada.
- Experience in providing executive support and advice to Senior Management.
- Experience in corporate level planning, business and/or policy development in a government or business environment.

- Basic knowledge of NRC-IRAP's mandate, mission and business model.
- Demonstrated ability to research, analyze and summarize complex data and situations and communicate results and conclusions in a clear and compelling way both orally and in writing.
- Advanced knowledge of technology, innovation and commercialization issues and trends within the sector/or region relation to the position.
- Solid knowledge of project management.
