**POLICY AND BYLAW ANALYST

- coast living, as well as proximity to oceans, lakes, rivers and mountains.The City of Port Alberni is currently looking for a **Policy and Bylaw Analyst **to join a progressive and dynamic
organ ization that provides a full range of programs and services to taxpayers. This 6-month term position will
shape the regulatory landscape of Port Alberni. This role will lead and support the modernization of current
policies and bylaws, as well as the development of new policies and bylaws, while ensuring compliance with
evolving standards.

**Responsibilities**:

- Lead the review and modernization of current City policies and bylaws, and the development of new
- policies and bylaws- Research and analyze best practices and current standards regarding policies and bylaws related to a
- number of different departments- Prepare reports, and attend/present at Committee of the Whole or Council meetings
- Provide analytical support, through data collection and analysis, in alignment with a wide range of
- strategic City initiatives.- Work independently and collaboratively with different departments as necessary
- Perform related work as required

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- University degree in a related discipline (e.g. public administration, law, social sciences, information
- studies)- A minimum of two years experience researching policy or legal issues; conducting policy analysis or
- supporting policy-making processes in government, non-profit or private sector organizations- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, and to create effective presentations
- Strong research and critical thinking skills, as well as a high level of self-motivation
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and work in a collaborative manner
- This is a temporary position for a 6-month term. The annual salary is $89,551; a comprehensive benefit package and _
- flex day work schedule is also provided. A remote or hybrid work schedule may be considered as well. Qualified _Attention: Human Resources
