- As a Business Strategist with Calgary Housing Company (CHC), you will be responsible for the development of a strategic capital funding program and strategy for affordable housing development, providing comprehensive and timely analysis, strategic advice and policy recommendations to CHC’s executive leadership team, CHC Board, City Administration, City Council and other interested parties on capital initiatives related to affordable housing. You are a key source of financial, analytical and technical expertise in the delivery of the Corporate Affordable Housing Strategy. Primary duties include:

- Lead the creation and development of strategic funding initiatives by analyzing information on affordable housing issues and trends, funding and borrowing programs, and identifying opportunities to maintain and increase the supply of affordable housing.
Analyze and assess the financial and legal implications of possible initiatives, create and evaluate options for consideration by senior management, CHC board, and Council and make recommendations considering this evaluation.
Provide capital asset and funding expertise to senior management in the development of broad capital funding plans and strategies, identify gaps, conduct research and develop strategies and recommendations that will help maintain and increase the supply of affordable housing in the city.
Advocate to other orders of government for funding, policies and programs that align with The City and CHC’s affordable housing objectives
Evaluate the feasibility of various capital projects and funding programs using financial pro-formas.

- A degree in Business, Public Administration, Planning, Architecture or a related field and at least 5 years of related experience in policy and program development, capital planning and/or operational and strategic planning.
- An understanding of municipal governance and operational processes with knowledge in a variety of long range planning activities such as finance, capital asset planning, business planning, management and policy theory/development.
- Experience with report writing, project management, finance and client negotiation will be considered an asset.
- Well developed research, analytical and problem solving skills and business and political acumen.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills with the ability to influence others and build consensus.
