As the Leader, Equity & Innovation, you will report to the Manager, Strategy, Planning, Innovation & Equity, in the Recreation & Social Programs (R&SP) Business Unit. You will lead a team of Strategists and subject matter experts responsible for developing and implementing strategies, plans and initiatives to promote Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB), Reconciliation and Anti-Racism for the business unit. As a results-oriented leader, you will possess political acumen and have experience in building and maintaining partnerships to improve the performance of R&SP in equity related outcomes. Primary duties include:

Develop the business unit strategic plans in alignment with Corporate plans, strategies and objectives on EDIB, Equity and Anti-Racism. Support and influence the development of service plans and strategies to incorporate EDIB, Reconciliation and Anti-Racism lenses to concepts, analyses and recommendations. Support other areas of the business unit to develop initiatives and incorporate equity in programs and services provided by R&SP. Develop indicators and performance measures to report on progress in advancing EDIB, Reconciliation and Anti-Racism in R&SP. Provide subject matter expertise and represent R&SP on Corporate working groups. Act as the primary liaison with the Indigenous Relations Office (IRO), the Anti-Racism Program and other Equity-related groups and coordinate R&SP participation in initiatives and reporting. Provide leadership to a team of Business Strategists and Consultants.  Responsible for performance outcomes, assigning work, ensuring quality standards, facilitating strategic decision making and developing objectives. Qualifications  A degree in related field and at least 8 years of experience that includes supervision, strategic planning and consulting is required OR  A graduate degree in related field and at least 4 years of experience. Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered. Lived experience as a member of an underrepresented community or experience working with and as an ally for persons from an underrepresented community is required. Expertise of equity, diversity and inclusion practices, principles and initiatives is required. Public sector experience, particularly municipal government experience, in a large, multi-union environment will be an asset. Success in this position requires:Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate others to action to advance the team's objectives.Well-developed political acumen and organizational sensitivity with the ability to influence others and collaborate across the organization to bring about change.Critical thinking and ability to coach direct reports in developing approaches to identify and resolve issues, analyze material, and respond to emerging challenges. Aligning with City corporate values, demonstrated success in strategic decision making, building, developing and leading strong and inclusive teams, ability to influence change, critical thinking, time management and strategic planning.
