The City of Abbotsford is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Planning, Partnerships and Policy Manager to join our team of professionals in the Parks, Recreation and Culture department.

Reporting to the Director of PRC Planning and Business Operations, this role will be responsible for providing leadership and management with respect to partnership agreements, strategic and business plans, policy frameworks and marketing sponsorships for all service areas. This position will collaborate and cultivate strong relationships with service providers, local community groups, private businesses and other agencies and organizations to maximize the use of public open spaces and services offered through increased flexibility and utilization to deliver exceptional public experiences in parks, recreation and culture. Additionally, will direct the work of policy and planning staff. In consultation with departmental staff, leads the development, implementation and review of department policies regarding program and service delivery.

The Manager works with other City staff to develop and negotiate partnerships, service and legal agreements with various organizations. Implements Council priorities related to the delivery of parks, recreation and culture services by providing and leading the implementation of planning and research to support all areas of service, address emergent issues of Council and the community, and by recommending strategies and policy frameworks in these areas through sound knowledge of current practices, service delivery models, and emerging trends. This includes planning and research related to parks, recreation, arts and culture issues; analyzing broad user and statistical data; facilitating and leading group development and public consultation processes, both internally and externally; seeking input from the community, advisory boards, and other City staff; developing and recommending strategies, policies and procedures in related areas; and reviewing strategy and governance related to relationships with various community, partnership and cultural groups.
