The Manager of Child Care Policy undertakes policy development projects by defining the scope, approach, timelines and deliverables and leads projects through all phases, including problem definition, consideration of strategies and implications, research of issues, development of options, and selection of alternatives for recommendation.

The Manager of Child Care Policy is responsible for developing provincial policy that facilitates the realization of provincial goals and priorities in the area of child care, and for the analysis and recommendations related to federal early learning and child care funding and policy. The position is responsible for the development of provincial policy responses to federal policy changes.

The position also ensures the coordination and direction of medium
- and long-range planning activities within the ministry specific to child care. The position prepares program materials including policies and standards and may prepare and coordinate proposed legislative changes and drafts Cabinet and Treasury Board submissions.

**Job Requirements**:

- A Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Sciences, Law, Economics, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Two (2) years' experience leading strategic policy initiatives, either through the development of legislation, regulations and/or broad-scale policies or programs.
- One (1) year experience leading/managing project teams.
- One (1) year experience supervising staff including performance management.
- One (1) year experience managing high profile/sensitive projects.
- Experience providing recommendations and developing written materials for senior staff/executive. Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with senior level stakeholders.Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:

- A Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Sciences, Law, Economics, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Additional years of experience in any of the job requirements noted above.
- Experience leading big systems projects and/or strategic policy projects that include broad scale systems and complex policy change initiatives for service delivery programs. Experience leading strategic early care and learning policy initiatives from issue identification to implementation.**About this Position**:
There is currently one temporary appointment available until March 31, 2025. A permanent appointment may result from this temporary opportunity.
