The ministry has overall responsibility for the development of a coherent, accessible, and culturally safe mental health and addictions system that is effective for individuals and families across the lifespan throughout the province. The Indigenous Partnerships and Wellness team is responsible for working collaboratively with Indigenous partners to support Indigenous-led solutions to mental health and substance use services; working with partners in the First Nations health governance structure; strengthening the health and wellness partnership with Métis Nation BC; providing advice across the ministry on engaging Indigenous Peoples; and leading the implementation of the United Nations of Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action, the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act and government’s Declaration Act Action Plan.

The Policy Analyst role independently manages assigned policy development projects focused on the review and revision of existing ministry programs or legislation.

**Job Requirements**:

- Degree in business or public administration, or health sciences, social sciences, or related field and a minimum 2 years of progressive and recent related* experience. (If master’s degree is obtained, then a minimum 1 year of progressive and recent related* experience is required); OR
- Diploma in business or public administration, or health sciences, social sciences, or related field and a minimum 4 years of progressive and recent related* experience; OR
- No degree and a minimum 6 years of progressive and recent, related* experience.

**Progressive and recent related experience must include**:

- Researching policy issues and conducting policy analysis related to child and youth mental health and substance use, health care/promotion, public health and/or other social service policies, programs or initiatives targeted to children and youth and/or Indigenous Peoples.
- Preparing and providing advice and recommendations on policy and programs in the child and youth mental health and substance use sector or that support Indigenous-led solutions.
- Managing projects and/or project components.
- Building collaborative relationships with multiple partners to develop and support implementation of policies, programs and initiative; experience working with Indigenous partners an asset.
- With experience working with Indigenous organizations and communities.
- With lived or living experience of, or experience working with populations with, complex health and social challenges.
- Who self-identify as First Nations, Métis and/or Inuit.
