**The opportunity**:
The University of Manitoba is looking for an Engagement Lead. The position will be responsible for coordinating projects, initiatives, events, partnerships, and participating in committees both internally and externally to UM. This position will report directly to the Director, Indigenous Engagement, Communications, and ELeV Partnership.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:
THIS POSITION IS DESIGNATED FOR INDIGENOUS CANDIDATES. APPLICANTS MUST SELF-DECLARE ON THEIR COVER LETTER/RESUME AS INDIGENOUS (FIRST NATION, METIS AND/OR INUIT).
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Indigenous studies, History, Human Rights, Education, Communications, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in a field related to advancing Indigenous education required.
- Experience in coordinating projects and events and working collaboratively with others is required.
- Previous administrative experience in an academic setting is preferred.
- Experience in collaborating with Indigenous communities and educational institutions is preferred
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures, colonization, socio-economic issues, and importance of self-determination is required.
- Effective oral and written communication skills required.
- Demonstrated proficiency using advanced features associated with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams, etc.) required.
- Demonstrated conflict resolution skills required.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and establish work priorities and deadlines required.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and accurately under pressure required.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various levels of internal and external contacts required.
- Ability to gather, develop, and present information as well as provide advice required.
- Ability to make sound independent judgments required.
- Ability to process large numbers of documents with speed, accuracy and attention to detail in order to meet strict deadlines required.
- Ability to think critically and creatively required.
- Ability to lead, create and coordinate new initiatives with key stakeholders required.
- A high degree of analytical thinking is preferred.
- Experience using University systems (e.g. Epic, Concur) preferred.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
