Director, Strategic Communications and Engagement

Location: Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg or Toronto

We are Believeco:Partners. A newly formed, independent owner, operator and builder of the foremost partner-led marketing, communications, and engagement agencies. Made up of Believeco, our full-service marketing agency, Argyle our public relations and engagement agency and Castlemain, our Indigenous advisory firm. With over 300 people, across seven offices, in 6 provinces and 2 countries, our goal is to be one of North America's largest and most acclaimed full-service agencies.

It's an exciting time to join Believeco:Partners. As a result of our continued growth, we are now looking for a Director, Strategic Communications and Engagement who is excited by the prospect of working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment to help clients in different industries/sectors. We work with our clients to advance Indigenous self-determination, close socioeconomic gaps and support community development. Based on our expertise, our services are also sought after by all levels of government.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead projects or streams of large strategic communications projects for complex client programs involving audience analysis, message development, channel selection, media relations, measurement and evaluation.
  • Lead engagement files involving Indigenous, public and interest holder engagement planning, facilitation and reporting.
  • Manage and build strong client relationships and rapport, being responsive and solutions-oriented.
  • Work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams and manage team members to ensure quality assurance and produce project deliverables on time and on budget.
  • Grow new business opportunities, for example by leading the development of proposals and participating in new business pitches.
  • As part of the Western leadership team, provide mentorship, management, and coaching to support the growth of team members.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Commitment to producing high-quality work within time and budget constraints
  • A university degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years of consulting, agency or corporate experience or work within for-profit, non-profit and/or public government
  • Some formal engagement training (i.e. International Association of Public Participation) or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in project or program management including work planning and managing budgets, client relationships, and teams and/or subcontractors
  • Extensive experience in communications and engagement, with hands-on experience in: strategy design, stakeholder and/or public engagement, Rights holder engagement, traditional and/or digital communications and promotions, event logistics and management, facilitation, data analysis, research and analysis, report writing
  • Experience in new business development, including proposal development, marketing materials, and/or presentations
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities or an in-depth knowledge of Indigenous issues through lived experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and interest in Indigenous issues in Canada, including Indigenous governance and community development;
  • Proficiency in Office 365 - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook (and SharePoint is desired)
  • Ability and interest to travel for work
