Job Summary

This position plans, manages, develops, implements, and evaluates a broad range of educational and professional development programs, initiatives, projects, and resources offered by the Centre for Teaching & Learning (CTL) in support of learning and teaching for faculty, graduate students, and staff, with special focus on those related to learning technologies.

This position provides leadership and supervision to the CTL Learning Technologies team. This position is required to collaborate with campus partners, faculties and units on both campuses for planning, managing, develop and implement professional broad based and diversified educational programs, initiatives and projects in order to foster teaching and learning excellence within academic units and across the university.

Organizational Status

The Centre for Teaching & Learning (CTL) works with individual and groups of faculty members, academic staff, and students, as well as academic programs, to support and promote teaching and learning excellence, innovation, and scholarship at UBC Okanagan. The CTL provides workshops, consultations (to individuals and groups), and programs focused on evidence-based approaches to teaching and learning in the areas such as the scholarship of teaching and learning, curriculum development, flexible learning, instructional design, educational technology development, instructional support and teaching practice development. The CTL also provides both pedagogical and technical support to a diverse suite of learning technologies, including its learning technology ecosystem.

This position reports to the Assistant Director, CTL and directly oversees the work of Learning Technologies staff at UBC Okanagan.

Work Performed

Providing campus leadership for learning technology supports, initiatives, and projects:

- Provides leadership to the UBC Okanagan LT Help Desk, including supervising the CTL Learning Technologies team (support analysts, co-op students), and liaises with LTHub and UBC IT on matters of collective interest, as appropriate.
- Acts as a resource to the UBC Okanagan campus community for advanced queries about learning technology use and technical support.
- Initiates resource development related to UBC-supported Learning Technologies, including writing documentation, training manuals or videos, and web content. Facilitates the sharing of information and building of a knowledge base about learning technologies amongst instructional and technical support units and the wider university community.
- Liaises with UBC Vancouver (CTLT), UBC IT, and UBC Okanagan campus departments, and participates in relevant internal and external committees (including UBCO Teaching and Learning Operations Committee, and LT Operations and LT Advisory Group across UBC, and the Educational Technologies User Group within BC Campus), to foster, develop, and implement collaborative and complementary projects, solutions, and learning technology initiatives across campus and inter-institutionally.
- Consults with stakeholders, campus partners and faculty regarding budgets for technology implementation and may develop proposals to secure funding.
