The Network Support Manager’s role is to plan, direct, and coordinate the design, installation, and connectivity of computer and network systems to ensure the stable operation of the River East Transcona School Division’s IT assets. This includes planning, developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all new and existing network hardware, software, and communication links. The Network Support Manager will also schedule and direct the activities of a team of network specialists to resolve end user hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.

- Including planning, developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all new and existing network hardware, software, and communication links
- Assess what type of hardware each building’s LAN requires and make recommendations for purchase
- Assume responsibility for the implementation, configuration, and ongoing support of network hardware/firmware upgrades
- Work with LAN and WAN support vendors to identify and solve problems through an escalation process
- Work with the Information Technology Director in designing networks for various requirements
- Manage appropriate network projects
- Document the network topology in order to quickly access information needed to diagnose problems and implement solutions
- Manages and develops upgrades to the division’s VoIP telephone systems
- Maintain the division’s Wireless networks
- Maintain inventory of equipment and parts
- Recommend, schedule, and manage repairs to the LANs/WANs
- Implement and maintain network security, inclusive of working with other areas of the department to ensure the integrity and security of division data and communications
- Create and maintain remote monitoring of the networks using network management tools in order to maximize network efficiency
- Maintain an effective system of communication with all IT staff in the IT Department
- Work with Director to review, critique RFP/RFQ responses as needed
- Participate in various meetings as needed to support organization’s plans and initiatives
- Work closely with managers and director on the planning, management and implementation of DR, backup, and security
- Effectively communicate with other managers to support an efficient working culture
- Maintain a focus on annual professional learning inclusive of training, micro-credentialing, and attending conferences etc., both in-person and virtually
- In collaboration with other staff, implement and manage aspects of any/all remote access systems, platforms and or policies with respect to the area of responsibility
- Provide guidance in the area of innovative research and development of products, platforms, devices and systems

**Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities**:

- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) preferred
- Project Management certification and/or experience preferred
- Demonstrated previous experience with network installations
- Minimum of 5 years in network management

- Server virtualization
- Routers, switches, and other network devices
- Wi-Fi infrastructure and mobile devices

- Microsoft and Apple operating systems

- Sitting or standing for extended periods of time
- Hand-held telephone receiver may require repetitive arm-stretching and elbow-bending action
- Extensive use of computer mouse and keyboard
- Prolonged periods of viewing computer monitor
- Lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs. may be required
- Use of ladders when replacing network devices and wireless access points
