Are you passionate about waste reduction and want to bring others along on Edmonton’s journey towards a zero waste future?

Become part of our dynamic Single-use Items Outreach Education team and help support the City’s 25-year waste strategy. In this role, you will educate food vendors and restaurant owners and staff on ways to reduce the amount of single use items handled by their business.

With a focus on the City of Edmonton’s Cultural Commitments to be Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will:

- Engage business owners to provide them with information on the Single-Use Item Reduction Bylaw
- Represent the City in a positive, diplomatic and professional way whenever interacting with the public
- Use online data mapping software to record statistical data during door-to-door interactions
- Track progress against program goals, identify potential improvements and report progress daily
- Stock, transport and organize program materials, and report missing equipment to your supervisor
- Closely follow safety procedures and practice self-care skills while working independently in the field
- Other related duties as required

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
- Experience working with the general public, either in an educational or customer service setting
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to citizens, including comfort with door-to-door canvassing and passion for speaking with the general public and educating them on various City initiatives
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships that reflect a respectful and inclusive style
- Ability to take direction and work independently to meet desired outcomes
- Physical ability to safely perform the tasks of the role, including walking and standing for extended periods of time and bending and lifting up to 25 lbs
- Skill in the use of Google Workspace (Forms, Docs, Gmail)
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent). Must arrange own transportation to be reimbursed in accordance with City of Edmonton policy. This may require business auto insurance
- Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
- Hire is dependent on Police Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position, there may be a cost associated with this requirement

**Up to 2 temporary part-time positions for up to 6 months**

**Hours of Work**: 22.5 to 39.5 hours per week. 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday. Occasional weekend work may be required.

The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.

**Salary**: $18.067 - $22.361 (Hourly)
