About Home Base Housing
Home Base Housing is in the business of ending homelessness. We do this by caring and providing individual wrap around services delivered by case managers to the vulnerably housed and homeless. With over 22 properties under our management, we provide emergency, transitional and supportive housing, for youth, families and single adults, a housing help centre, street outreach, One Roof

One Roof Youth Drop-in Assistant
Overview
Duties and Related Tasks
- Running Programming Opportunities for transitional aged youth accessing Drop
- in space
- Ensuring intakes with young people are completed
- Promoting in house programming opportunities
- Making client referrals to internal and external resources
- Ensuring safety and security of all program participants
- Providing outreach to youth when appropriate
- Providing Harm Reduction Supplies and training to youth
- Ensuring space is clean and organized
- Acting as receptionist at One Roof (answering calls, receiving visitors, and directing them to the appropriate staff)
- Handling inquiries about One Roof and determining if matters require the attention of another staff or management
- Booking appointments for clients with One Roof staff and community partners
- Preparing statistics and minutes for meetings as requested by the Program Manager or Supervisor
- Photocopying documents as required
- Ensuring maintenance of administrative filing system
- Accumulate and maintain resource materials for client usage
- Maintaining/inputting electronic client data base
- Ensuring youth have completed appropriate intake procedures utilizing My Wellness Passport tool
- Ordering supplies needed for ongoing operations of the office
- Working collaboratively with Manager, Supervisor, and community partners
- Keeping office machines in running order and stocked
- Ensuring any office repairs are dealt with
- Additional tasks assigned by Program Manager or Supervisor
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Knowledge of office skills and procedures
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to use a computer with knowledge of Microsoft software
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to set and maintain boundaries
- Awareness of Traditional Indigenous Healing
- Exceptional organizational skills in order to set priorities, coordinate and complete a variety of tasks
- Demonstrated ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, and good judgment in responding to enquiries
- Discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential data and issues
- Knowledge of housing, health care, programs, and community resources in Kingston preferred
- Experience working with individuals who are substance users, have mental health issues and/or who have come into contact with the criminal justice system preferred
- Solid judgment, problem solving and crisis intervention skills
- Knowledge of transitional aged youth needs
- Knowledge of criminogenic risk factors
- Knowledge and implementation of harm reduction strategies
- Ability to de-escalate clients and provide tough messages
Qualifications:
- Community College Diploma in Social Services or related field preferred
- Administrative experience required
