This is a 25-hour part-time job in a community church where interaction with people is a daily occurrence. You support the Minister by handling the work of a busy office. You are a key staff member representing the church.

Your job performance requires adherence to legislation and regulations applicable to health and safety, confidentiality, accessibility, diversity, anti-racism, and eco-sustainability.

We are looking for a self-starter who can work independently and manage their time. Someone who has the technical skills to run office equipment, manage book-keeping and purchasing, use word processing and data management software, report on the copyright use of music, set up Zoom meetings, etc.

You need the skills to design and print documents, manage correspondence, maintain an informational website, and write content and design layouts for a weekly e-newsletter.

In addition, you will be responsible for producing reports, charts, information lists, etc., using database information. Other tasks involve booking and organizing events and managing both building tenants and short-term rentals. You may be asked to demonstrate some of these skills at the interview.

Weekly activities also include scheduling volunteers and preparing bulletins for church services. You will be responsible for booking and assisting with tasks related to church services and receptions, including the preparation of notices and certificates, and handling food and floral arrangements.You will prepare business cards, parking passes, etc. for staff, volunteers, and tenants.

Once a year, the United Church of Canada requires reports and completed statistical forms. The Church Administrator is responsible for incorporating the information into these reports and submitting them.

The job is primarily conducted in the third-floor church office. The building has entry doors on three sides. Interactions with the public, members of the congregation, and rental program participants can require patience and sometimes, action.

- Previous experience in office administration, with the ability to offer competent administrative support through strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, database software, designing newsletters and website management.
- Ability to manage time and prioritize work.
- Ability to create and maintain both paper and electronic filing systems.
- Strong financial/accounting and analytical skills.
- Experience in protecting sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to create positive relationships with a wide variety of individuals, employing compassion, empathy, and discretion.
- Capability in using, maintaining, and managing repairs to office equipment.
- Experience in building management - dealing with tenants, rental agreements, and service contracts.

**The following knowledge bases are assets**:

- ADP Canada payroll systems.
- Working with a faith-based organization.
- Church management databases.
- Food handling certification.
- First Aid certification.
- A second language fluency.
- Ability to sign American Sign Language (ASL).
- Knowledge of the York South Weston community.
- Familiarity with the United Church of Canada’s values.
- G-License and ownership of a vehicle
