Reporting to the Director, Reporting and Compliance, the Manager Financial Compliance is responsible for a broad spectrum of services in the areas of financial compliance and evaluation.

The Manager is responsible for overseeing compliance monitoring, evaluating functions and ensuring accountability for public funds. In this role, you'll be instrumental in maintaining an efficient financial environment with effective and appropriate internal controls while providing strategic leadership to a team of 11 finance and administrative professionals located across the province.

This position enables ministry management and staff to fulfill their financial responsibilities and obligations regarding processing payments and cash/revenue transactions, maintaining appropriate internal controls and following applicable policies and procedures.

The main responsibilities of this role include:

- Monitoring and evaluating finance functions to ensure that ministry risks are managed, there is accountability for public funds and financial activities and transactions comply with legislation.
- Developing and implementing processes and procedures to ensure that program staff accurately and efficiently process payments to clients and vendors, process revenue and perform related financial functions.
- Providing leadership to the Financial Compliance Team and contribute to operational planning processes.
- Continually reviewing and streamlining practices and internal controls to minimize the risk of fraud and error in day-to-day financial transactions. Ensuring best practices are implemented.
- Ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of ministry financial and management control systems, compliance with legislation, policies and procedures, and the accuracy and reliability of internal management and performance reporting.

**Qualifications**:
Required:

- University degree in Commerce, Accounting or related field such as Business (or other related program) plus a minimum of four years’ experience.
- Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalence on a one for one basis

Assets:

- A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation will be considered an asset.
- Extensive knowledge in finance, financial systems, audit, management control systems and risk management.
- Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of effectively managing large teams.
- Experience working with Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
