Communications Coordinator

We are seeking a Communications Coordinator to provide support in developing and executing a full range of communication services, with a focus on the corporations digital and social media presence for the organization. The coordinator will support communications planning and implementation, crisis communications, and issues management.

Working closely with members of the Marketing and Communications team, the Coordinator gives form to our brand and culture across all digital platforms and channels and is actively focused on engaging stakeholders by executing best practice social and digital marketing methods and metrics. The successful incumbent will:
Ensure Alberta Innovates marketing communications initiatives are integrated and consistent with the vision, mission and objectives and effectively champions and represents the brand.
Oversees all web communications and social media and maintains a user friendly, updated and fully functional internal and external websites.
Writes and edits web content and designs creative campaigns that leverage and integrate traditional, digital, and social marketing to promote and support the organization’s business efforts.
Supports development of high-integrity social influencer and digital activations, and partner/program cross-promotions as requested.
Participates in podcast, audio and video production (including scripting, storyboard, editing), and the production of webinars, townhall and related events using established online platforms.
Supports Marketing & Communications colleagues, vendors and others to plan and implement high impact partner events, media announcements, client/dignitary tours, tradeshows, career fairs, exhibits and hosting activities that strengthen the corporation’s brand image and reputation.
Assumes roles as assigned on specific public outreach, partnership events and activities, including liaising with counterparts at partner organizations as required.
Coordinates and manages internal communications and external vendors to ensure the integrity and adherence to AI brand message architecture and visual identity guidelines, and that timelines are adhered too.
Ensures positioning in all internal/external stakeholder communications is done in a compelling and clear manner that reinforces AI’s value to its target clients and stakeholders.
Provides content/publishing guidance to optimize corporate and subsidiary website(s) as integrated enterprise channels and client-supportive tools.
Complies with all department and workplace wellness, safety, culture/values guidelines to help ensure a resilient working environment for self and co-workers.

Qualifications and skills we are looking for:
Diploma/Degree in communications, public relations, journalism, broadcasting or English.
Two years related experience.
Experience coordinating advertising, publications and events
Knowledge of emerging media, social media, and technical solutions supporting enhanced effectiveness of tools like the external website.
Good understanding of the communication planning process.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of marketing, communications, public relations, economics, business;
Excellent writing and editing skills;
Strong consulting, project management, and organizational skills.
