**Organization Summary**:
The Students’ Association is an autonomous, student-led organization that is dedicated to serving and representing students at NorQuest College. We represent and advocate for students, offer meaningful opportunities for students to get involved and provide a range of services to assist students when they need support.

**Summary of Position**:
The Communications Coordinator (External), reporting to the Engagement Director, is responsible for managing various aspects of communication between the Students’ Association of NorQuest College (SANQC) and external stakeholders, such as media outlets, government agencies, and the public.

The Communications Coordinator (External) takes the lead on media and public relations, focusing on brand building in the community and pitching special interest stories that align with the goals and objectives of the organization. They strategically craft position statements and align organizational advocacy campaigns to compel the public to engage and support.

In addition, they are responsible for developing, in consultation with the Engagement Director, the external communications strategy and assisting with crisis communication plans.

As part of the dynamic SANQC team, the Communications Coordinator (External) also has opportunities to contribute to internal and external committees and initiatives that align with the purpose of SANQC and contribute to the organization's vision of transforming the student experience.

From time to time, as required, the Communications Coordinator (External) will perform duties beyond those listed to ensure the smooth functioning of the organization as a whole.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Engagement Team Support:

- Assist project leads with project planning, tracking progress, and coordinating activities.
- Conduct research, compile data, and support project presentations.
- Collaborate with team members for data collection and analysis.
- Aid in event planning, marketing materials, and ensuring consistent branding.
- Assist with event setup, logistics, and provide on-site support.

External Communications Strategy Development:

- Develop and implement a comprehensive external communications strategy.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and manage brand reputation.
- Monitor trends, identify media coverage opportunities, and evaluate communication effectiveness.

Crisis Communications Support:

- Assist in developing crisis communication plans and manage communication during crises.
- Provide guidance and support to executives, address issues on social media, and coordinate media responses.

Media Relations:

- Build and maintain relationships with media outlets.
- Develop media strategies, write press releases, and coordinate interviews.
- Monitor media coverage and prepare reports on public sentiment.
- Develop press kits, speeches, and event scripts.

Content Creation and Management:

- Create engaging content for press releases, articles, blogs, and social media.
- Collaborate with internal teams and ensure brand consistency.
- Edit and proofread content, monitor performance, and stay updated on industry trends.

Graphic Design:

- Develop visual materials aligned with brand guidelines for print and digital media.
- Collaborate with teams, select appropriate visuals, and arrange elements for user-friendly layouts.
- Enhance images, stay informed about design trends, and prepare files for distribution.

Speech Writing and Coaching:

- Conduct research and create impactful speeches.
- Collaborate closely with speakers, incorporate storytelling techniques, and refine speeches based on feedback.
- Assist in rehearsing and refining speech delivery, maintain an archive of speeches, and stay updated on best practices.

Videography & Photography:

- Capture high-quality video footage, set up equipment, and frame shots creatively.
- Collaborate with teams to plan and coordinate shoots, scout locations, and ensure smooth operations.
- Edit video footage, incorporate visual effects, and maintain equipment and files.

Convocation Committee Member:

- Attend meetings, contribute ideas, and complete assigned tasks.
- Collaborate, support initiatives, provide input on policies, and act as a liaison.
- Stay informed, respect confidentiality, and support committee events.

Co-Lead Communications Working Group:

- Develop communication strategy aligned with objectives, oversee content creation, and facilitate effective communication within the group.
- Ensure consistent messaging, assess effectiveness, and coordinate with other departments.

Advocacy Campaigns & Students' Council Initiatives:
