This position will report to the Lines Technical Support Supervisor (Standards) and be responsible for the following:
**Job Duties**:

- Assist senior engineering staff with standards work related to the overhead and underground design of the distribution power system.
- Assist in developing and updating distribution lines standards.
- Assist in providing assessment, analysis and recommendations on issues and problems associated with distribution lines operation and work activities.
- Assist in providing technical advice, direction, and related support services to other company internal Lines of Business as directed on processes, technical specifications, and requirements around the distribution power system.
- Perform research on technical challenges, compile and evaluate information, and prepare recommendations for implementation for review.
- Receive assignments from supervisor or other senior engineering staff in broad terms on specific problems related to assigned areas of work. Research available resources and contacts and propose effective recommendations for review.
- Assist in the preparation of briefing, progress, and status reports.
- Assist in the definition, development, and preparation of programs, processes, procedures, or methods related to management of the distribution power system and / or work programs.
- Maintain basic awareness of advancing technology developments related to distribution power system assets.
- Work with others as required and assist in resolution of work problems.
- Perform other duties as required or as directed.

**This job will provide you with the following professional development**:

- Good understanding of the distribution power system both as a whole and its specific components.
- Good understanding of the development of design standards used in the construction of the distribution power system.
- Improving communications skills to be able to carry out job duties in discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Practice in power systems, electrical circuits, and distribution power system engineering fundamentals.
- Practice in effectively setting up, conducting, and presenting at meetings.
- Practice in written communication and documentation.

**Selection Criteria**:

- Discipline: Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Structural / Civil Engineering.
- Academic Level: Completion of 3rd year or higher.
- Computer programming experience in Visual Basic for Applications, Python, and other languages is an asset.
- Requires knowledge of technical writing to prepare effective reports.
- Demonstrated strong communication, organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to function effectively as a team member with a demonstrated ability to be an agent of change.
- Requires strong working knowledge of SharePoint, Microsoft Office (Visio/Excel/Word/PowerPoint), SAP, etc.
- Requires strong proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD) in order to complete job duties.
- Requires a valid driver's license.
